***EXCLUSIVE*** with @AlbertoNardelli Donald Trump has told countries that want to serve on his Board of Peace they will have to ***pay $1 billion*** to be permanent members Bloomberg has obtained the draft charter. It appears to suggest ***Trump himself would control the money***, sources say The charter would be considered unacceptable to most countries who could have potentially joined the board, sources say Netanyahu has rejected the terms Several nations strongly oppose the draft of Trump’s charter and are working on collectively pushing back against the proposals, sources said They are concerned Trump is trying to build a rival to the United Nations that’s about more than Gaza and that he would totally control It means that despite Trump’s advertising of the Board of Peace, in fact it does not have the support of key regional or global players bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

The ability of demagogues & autocrats to surprise, to create a new scandal every day, is their superpower. It diminishes attention to the previous day's transgressions & normalizes them. It slowly numbs the senses, including outrage. Values are the only defense. Hold them dear.

wonder whether Germans in 1933 were surprised when Himmler and Goebbels were appointed to the cabinet.

If Musk really wants to break Bluesky he should send his own developers to work there.

Inevitable that Bluesky would have some outages this week given a) huge increase in traffic; b) Elon's winged cuntmonkeys trying to break into it

If people are leaving Twitter, it's less because of the politics of its owner and more because of his ability. He's made a bad product, filled with bad ads, bad interactions and bad boosted content. It's a bad experience, of course people will look for something better.

Three days into Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, as Putin’s soldiers were razing cities, raping and executing Ukrainians, Gabbard — who was just tapped by Trump to be director of national intelligence — called on Zelensky to “embrace the spirit of aloha.”
Tulsi Gabbard 🌺@TulsiGabbard

Dear Presidents Putin, Zelensky, and Biden. It’s time to put geopolitics aside and embrace the spirit of aloha, respect and love, for the Ukrainian people by coming to an agreement that Ukraine will be a neutral country—i.e. no military alliance with NATO or Russia—thus...

@avygal Business-wise, he's an idiot and serial bankrupt. He's made appalling executive decisions throughout his life.

There is no point trying to interact in any way with Owen Jones, and I would urge the well-meaning people I see within the Jewish community not to. It's like playing chess with a pigeon.

@GetItQuietly Yeah, sure. Conference full-timers aren't retiring. They could probably go old-school and buy a pub though.

@jlsinc I mean the % depends how far down you go. Players are full time down to at least level 5, paid something I don't know, 9 or 10.

That's started me thinking how many professional footballers *can* retire and live off their earnings. To make £2 million after tax you'd need to be on around £40k a month for 10 years. Even that's stretching it with a family.
