@FDNYchic @CMNantashaW We could easily reduce the City's budget by $5 billion by simply eliminating nonsense. For the next $5 billion we have to do our homework. Screwing the retirees and active out of quality healthcare is a scheme to generate executives bonuses.

@CMNantashaW Correct. There are places we can reduce spending that won’t impact services. no-bid contracts are citywide. Every single one of them should be reviewed. I’ve shown we are paying a former commissioner $500/hr, & a mediator $7500/day. We can fix this & still get work done.

If your entire budget analysis is “tax the rich,” you may not actually understand the budget. That’s exactly why we need a more transparent process and a more informed public debate. I’ve always supported progressive taxation btw, but that can’t be the only thing we discuss.

@AlbaneseNYC I suspect the long overdue bear market has arrived. If so a great time to start dollar cost averaging into the S&P 500 Index. I wouldn't invest a lump sum before a 20% or so decline.

Here at the FDNY, we #NeverForget. That is why every class of Probationary EMTs visits the 9/11 Memorial & Museum ahead of their graduation from the FDNY EMS Academy at Fort Totten. It's a reminder of the Supreme Sacrifice our members made that tragic day.

@Maria4Dist6 An open and nonpartisan primary for the 3 Citywide offices and the Council seats as well is just what the City needs. The looney-left vs. the Tump groupies everything agenda - enough is enough!

NYC is the largest city in the country. Other large cities, Los Angeles, Houston and Chicago employ some form of open or nonpartisan primary in municipal elections. The vast majority of cities do so as well. Franchising every voter should not be controversial. Last year’s Charter Revision Commission approved putting this issue on the ballot in last November’s election, and then withdrew it at the last minute, giving in to pressure from WFP and DSA. A commission was reinstated, but the pressure to keep this issue out of the hands of voters continues. As reported in @CityAndStateNY : “If Mamdani continues to refuse to provide funding, the commission is seeking additional ways to proceed – like accepting private donations and other resources to fund its operations. Some supporters of open primaries have approached the commission on their own, expressing interest in how they might help. Maria Danzilo, a lawyer and executive director of One City Rising, said the organization is willing to help fundraise donations from the public to support the commission’s work should Mamdani not offer any help. “When people want change, and they want good government, I believe they’ll step up and do that,” she said, adding that while she’s reached out to commission members, she hasn’t heard back yet.  “ @OneCityRisingNY @veteransunited @OpenPrimaryUSA @savetheuws @nycopenprimary @studentsforop @katherinegehl
City & State NY@CityAndStateNY

There is little if any precedent of a charter commission established by a former mayor operating without approval from the new administration, and the group’s plans to blaze forward could devolve into a complex legal battle. cityandstateny.com/politics/2026/…

@FDNYchic As a policy decision and objective, Bloomberg wanted to make the career civil service irrevelent and anachronistic. He had a fantasy of out-of-town yuppies and management by data analytics. It was a disaster.

2009. Every Mayor said there was an Economic Crisis! They proposed budget cuts, or tried to settle gaps on the backs of workers. At the end of Bloomberg in 2014, most 152 unions were left without a contract some going back to 2008 leaving workers without increases or retro #NYCAnnualBudgetKabukiDance

@JCats2013 @CurtisSliwa @77WABCradio Curtis moving to one of the Districts where he is a vote-getter and running for Council or Assembly? The City's power establishment giving us a candidate on a platter - can it be someone who really wants to be a reformer? After 80 years, LaGuardia remains the gold standard.

.@CurtisSliwa For the record @77WABCradio gave you approximately 180 days of unlimited airtime when you were running for mayor which is invaluable. We gave you unlimited access until we had a formal complaint from Joseph Hernandez and we satisfied his needs. 17 days before the election, we followed the concern of the majority of New Yorkers including Republicans, Independents and common sense people that would rather have a democrat versus a socialist. For the record: 180 days of unlimited access to the public vs. 17 days when there was no hope. After the election, even though your remarks about WABC were unwarranted, I publicly only made positive remarks about you. John Catsimatidis CEO

FDNY Commissioner Lillian Bonsignore
On Wednesday, I was proud to swear in First Deputy Commissioner Daniel Flynn and Chief of Staff Fabricio Caro. They represent the best of what our Department has to offer, and I know they are the perfect fit for these roles.    Dan brings more than two decades of experience with the FDNY—21 years of service that includes several promotions and a wealth of expertise. Before that, he served six years as a police officer, dedicating his career to protecting the people of this city.    Fabricio is a strategic thinker, a steady presence, and someone who understands that effective leadership is as much about listening as it is about decision-making. He is gritty and unafraid of hard work – logging countless hours doing community outreach for fire safety education and building alliances and relationships along the way.    Congratulations to you both! I know you will make this Department proud.

@Maria4Dist6 @Jgcollins_NYC Di Blasio did two things right. Getting the ball rolling with pre-K and appointing Margaret Garnett as DOI Commissioner. There's no reason for the DOI Commissioner to report to the Public Advocate.

It’s definitely a governance issue. I’m not sure even the public advocate has the objectivity to manage the department. Perhaps it needs to be in office like the district attorneys : “New York's District Attorneys (DAs) are independently elected officials, so they primarily report to the voters in their specific county (like Manhattan, Brooklyn, etc.) who elect them, rather than a single superior, though they are subject to state laws, the NY Attorney General's oversight in certain areas, and a statewide Prosecutorial Conduct Commission for ethical issues. They have significant discretion in their local prosecutions, but the Governor can appoint replacements if a vacancy occurs.”

This is not a good sign. Zohran decides NOT to reappoint Jocelyn Strauber, the Department of Investigation commissioner who was responsible for the corruption probe and charges brought against the Adams administration and several of its key leaders. She was appointed by Adams and nevertheless pursued Adams and the Administration, demonstrating her independence. She is just who we need, especially given Zohran’s lack of experience and the fact he is appointing people who do not seem to be carefully vetted for conflicts and other red flags. NYC needs a serious investigator like Jocely Strauber. We need an incorruptible, independent leader who is not afraid of anyone, to make sure our elected officials are on the up and up. An honest and transparent government must have checks and balances. @OneCityRisingNY calls for an appointment of someone of Ms. Strauber’s caliber as soon as possible. We hope the city council and other leaders demand the same. @GaleBrewerNYC @JulieMenin @savetheuws @GovKathyHochul @ycinnewyork @queens_parents @TheRealSPONY @SallyGold @nypost @InnaVernikov thecity.nyc/2026/01/08/joc…

Congratulations to my friend @CMDMCarr on being elected as our Minority leader! David has proven himself to be a man of high integrity and will be a steady, principled, and unifying leader. I look forward to working closely with him and our Republican delegation to FIGHT for common sense, and for the values & issues that matter most to our constituents as we face the imminent threat of the Mamdani mayoralty and a City Council that is more radical & emboldened than ever. I am also honored to have been appointed by the leader as Minority Whip of @NYCCouncil and I very much look forward to serving by the leader’s side!

Cea Weaver is a crackpot and a racist and has to go. She does not belong within a thousand miles of any government position. I would love to hear her say these nutty words to all those volunteers Mamdani claims to have recruited. I would bet these mostly middle class white kids from the suburbs will not be happy to hear Cea wants to seize Mom and Dad’s house and leave them all in the dirt.
