Mayhem in Midwood, Brooklyn where I grew up up. This is a mostly Jewish neighborhood filled with peaceful, law abiding, religious families. It is filled with schools and houses of worship. To pick this neighborhood for protests is intentional and spiteful. This is Skokie, Illinois all over again. This is where the National Socialists held a Nazi March in one of the State’s biggest Jewish enclaves. It was terrifying and outrageous and that was the point. The @ACLU in a decision that to this day is viewed as highly controversial, represented the Socialists, and the case went to the US Supreme Court where the court said the First Amendment allows Nazi Socialists to March through a Jewish neighborhood, provided they don’t cross the line into violent action. This protest in Midwood is doubling down on the hate, aggression and anti-semitism. Geez. This is the same Ken Griffin @NYCMayor and @GovKathyHochul want to drive out of NYC with their Success Tax ( aka the pied a Terre tax) . So Miami gets the new Cancer Center and all the research dollars and jobs that come with it. It’s not enough for @GovKathyHochul @NYCMayor that Griffin has given hundreds of millions to NYC charities over the past few years and has paid millions in real estate taxes on an apartment he purchased in NYC. They want to shake him and everyone else who has invested in NYC down for even more and it’s only a matter of time before they try to shake down every person in this town who has been successful. It’s really a shame. We have always been the city of opportunity now we are the city where they want to suffocate people for being successful. This whole Success Tax is just stoking class warfare for votes. “Peacably” is the operative word. The Supreme Court has been clear and consistent that cities can impose “ time, place and manner” restrictions on protestors. This protest was intended to test the law recently passed by the city council led by @JulieMenin which is intended to protect the rights of all New Yorkers to attend their religious institutions in peace, and free from harassment and violence. @NYCMayor has “doubled down” on his support for the protestors even though the legal issue regarding the program the Synagogue was offering is less than clear according to experts. He should stay out of these issues and controversies and focus on keeping all New Yorkers safe from violence and harassment. He is wrong to take sides. Government must be consistent and content neutral when addressing protests. This should be about safety. Nothing more and nothing less. It should not be about politics, ideologies or picking sides. Perhaps if he did that less New Yorkers would not see the need to attend these events out of a desperate desire for information about how to leave New York City and settle somewhere they can practice their faith without fear. I am proud to stand with the @CatholicLeague who are correct in their analysis. The protesters tried to break through barricades lawfully set up to maintain the peace. Do you genuinely believe he wants your help? You represent the enemy. The business community needs to start accepting this fact and organizing to fix it or move. Mandani is not a democrat. He is a socialist/ communist ideologue. He will never work with to expand the power and reach of business. He wants to end capitalism.

There’s a bigger lesson here beyond Citadel. NYC’s dominance isn’t pre-ordained - other cities are actively fighting for these jobs while we coast on history. That won’t cut it. The mayor needs a substantive jobs agenda with real employer engagement, competitive incentives, and a reason corporations feel they have to grow here no matter what. We want to help him build that.
