I was with @CampBestival Rockschool last weekend, securing the next generation of rockers! Forming bands all day, teaching drums & performing a song all in 40mins. Hard work but BOY was it rewarding. Melted my heart to hear girls asking parents for a drum kit afterwards 🥲🥁

@JonathanWood B.A Robertson co-wrote most of the Mike & The Mechanics stuff and also recorded his first album Winging Applause on Ardent records, same label as Big Star. Terry Manning produced the album and also played on Big Stars No 1 record. There you go!

@jmsmith1970 BA wrote or co-wrote The Living Years. Not sure how he connects with Big Star — fascinated to hear more…

@jmsmith1970 It's the Smokie connection isn't it? Chris Norman of said band co-wrote 'Head Over Heels' for Our Kev, and then featured Roy on 'Alice'.

@flangelight @Edwardmetcalf4 That is correct but I thought it was a bit obscure so was actually looking for B.A Robertsons first album Winging Applause being released on Ardent which is Big Stars label!

@JoeyLiverwurst Maybe neither of them are famous in America but Smokie got to number 25 in the billboard chart with “…Alice”

@stuartmackiet @Stegsythedog Spot on! Was just playing the Keegan single, thought that’s better than I remembered, then found the Smokie connection, nice one.
