Company boss who dumped 4,000 tonnes of waste across England ordered to pay £1.4m
Varun Datta, 36, director of Atkins Recycling Ltd, illegally diverted 4,275 tonnes – equivalent to 600 African elephants – to 16 sites including farms, a manor house and a Lancashire nature reserve.
He falsified documents with associate Sandeep Golechha, causing smells, flies and massive clean-up costs for landowners.
Datta pleaded guilty, receiving a suspended sentence but hit with £1.1m confiscation, £100k compensation and £200k costs.
Environment Agency branded it "appalling" scarring communities – a clear message to waste criminals.

An Air India plane had to fly back to the United States after heading to India because passengers kept using the bathroom continuously without a break, and some may have thrown certain things into the toilet, causing it to break, clog, and emit a bad smell.
The captain had to turn back immediately and cancel the flight.

The Telegraph runs a piece today on my research on the rise of large benefit claims.
There's supposed to be a "cap". But since 2002, stripping out the effects of inflation, the number of households getting over £40,000 a year in benefits has grown from 45,000 to 192,000.
