AMORIM’S OUT-OF-POSSESSION ERA NEEDS TO RETURN Watching the game against Brentford, we were far too easy to break through… it looked like there was no real structure out of possession. This is the same defending we saw under Erik ten Hag and Ole Gunnar Solskjær…far too easy to play through, no real structure out of possession. You can say Michael Carrick is chasing short-term results and a UCL spot, but it’s clearly “results over process” with no proper long-term plan. If he gets the job permanently, the OOP structure and fitness levels have to improve. We only just had that solidity under Rúben Amorim. Whoever’s in charge needs to bring back elite pressing, or this level of defending will get us embarrassed every week in the UCL.

Lac of forse-sight is for someone who believes he had to suffer before seeing progress, you have to keep losing before you think you’re building. You all should pay attention to these 4 games which we lost. Notice the pattern? • Consistent ball possession • ⁠High XG • ⁠More attempts at goal But the end result was we lost all games. There was a structure that was consistently bringing up all these attacking metrics. And that is how you judge performance. It was no fluke. That is coaching. I have always said that Amorim’s downfall lies largely on he not being lucky. Every coach will lose a game, and Carrick loosing doesn’t take anything away from him but you all can now rest and stop bringing up those nonsense arguments you used against the previous coach. Unto the next game , I don’t even see us loosing again cos Newcastle were the only team I saw a lost.
