I saw this a lot under Ole Gunnar Solksjaer. I saw this a lot under Erik Ten Hag when he paired Kobbie Mainoo and Casemiro (in the season Casemiro was fat and out of form). I saw this a lot under Amorim whenever he subbed off Casemiro for Ugarte or Kobbie. Now this is beginning to be the again under Carrick. If this isn’t addressed next season, we will be in for a laugh and mockery next season. Also, a sluggish midfielder like Kobbie Mainoo would be food for fast, paced, aggressive and physical defenders. That boy isn’t ready to be the head or dictator of our midfield, cause we will suffer.

@04Kapoor @KyleUTD01 Mbuemo is more of attacking player and cunha is roaming player. Both are attacking outlet so bruno had to come deep to get the ball and supply them. If any of 2dms does their job of retrieving the ball and supply to bruno, that would make us more threatening in attack.

I’ve said this before — Bruno isn’t a natural 10. He’s an 8. When he drops deeper, the tempo increases. The progressive passes appear. The midfield starts moving the ball with intent instead of recycling possession. If the current 8 role is meant to drive progression and verticality, then the output has to reflect that. I’d actually like to see Zirkzee as a 10, Bruno as the 8, and a proper 6 behind them. That balance could give us: • Control in buildup • Vertical progression from deep • Creativity between the lines Right now it feels inverted , the player most capable of progressing play is positioned higher, while the deeper role lacks consistent forward threat. That’s a structural question, not a personal one.

United have a huge midfield problem. We have two midfielders that can't run. You can make an excuse for Casemiro but what's Mainoo's excuse? If at 20 Mainoo can't run, doesn't have ample positional sense or even enough physicality for this league then it's a waste of time.

Full time review - Pretty poor game, intensity was off from the start. - Good attacking subs from Carrick (Zirkzee/ Dalot). - Sesko fantastic finish. - Mainoo, Yoro and Maguire very good. - Fullbacks were shocking today, Shaw was so slow, and Dalot's passing was off. - Love Amad but his final ball today was bad. - Not the best game from Bruno/ Mbeumo. - Will take a draw considering West Ham's form but disappointing, we really lacked intensity today to get going. - Horrid lowblock from Nuno. - Amorim selling our natural LW's was noticed today, we really lacked a natural player out there. - Sesko has to start against teams when we are looking to play balls into the box.
