In a true capitalist society taxes are limited to that required for maintaining law and order, the police, and defending the country against foreign invaders. The government does not interfere in the economy. There are no tax breaks, subsidies, exemptions, grants, legal protections, bailouts, and trade protections for corporations or citizens.

If capitalism is so great, why do corporations need so many tax breaks, subsidies, exemptions, grants, legal protections, bailouts, and trade protections? When citizens need these things, why is it socialism?

So its like this. You work for 45 years, you buy a house and pay it off. Meantime you buy some shares and some other property to help pay the way in retirement. The whole way through you had to pay tax BEFORE you put money into these investments. But according to @tanya_plibersek, your kids should be paying tax again when you die. Ponder that. Why save? Why put money away? Why take care of your own family? Because people like Plibersek and @AlboMP just want to take it from you.

It’s painful listening to these grubby, money grabbing Labor Ministers. It’s a Death Tax and you’ll be paying 30% tax on assets you purchased after already being taxed. Make it make sense.

They sold you a 3% income tax in 1913. By World War II it was 90% for the top bracket. The same people now want a wealth tax on assets you haven't sold. The number they give you is never the final number.

Here’s an idea… Rather than the government mandating digital ID on all of us, we should be mandating digital ID on the government to monitor exactly where they spend our tax money and the meetings they have with corporate lobbyists. We don’t serve them. They serve us.

“Destroying the Earth” by this standard means producing the electricity, heat, cooling, transportation, fertilizer, machinery, and medicine modern life depends on, including for the people condemning it. Socialists want all the benefits industrial civilization provides, they just resent that someone profits by creating and maintaining it. The contradiction is always the same: the producer is treated as evil precisely because he’s productive. Success becomes “greed,” trade becomes “exploitation,” and wealth creation becomes “destruction.” It’s not really about saving the planet. It’s about moral hostility toward achievement and a desire to politically control or confiscate what successful people build.

I thought about when & why I did change my outlook on things. What's going in my life, where am I going, how do I lead the team at work, the future in general, politics, simply everything. My old views on things were, plainly speaking, just not grounded enough in reality & logical thinking. It is after reading @DavidDeutschOxf, that, step by step, I started to see the world with different eyes. I would not have read this book w/o recurring recommendations by the great @naval, who I quickly came across on Twitter after joining in 2019. This is the most important book I have read in my life. The concepts I learned are a great north star. I am rereading the book right now. There is a ton of content on the it to better understand the core concepts here on X & YT by @ToKTeacher @arjunkhemani @astupple & many others. Read it & see for yourself… 👌 👇

It would benefit socialists to realize prices aren’t set by emotion or greed, but by supply and demand. And it would benefit them even more to realize that the policies they demand often destroy the incentive to create supply in the first place. Punish production, investment, profit, expansion, and risk-taking hard enough, and supply shrinks while demand remains. The predictable result is shortages, stagnation, and higher prices, followed by politicians blaming “greed” for the consequences of the policies they imposed.
