Thank you, Prof. Johanna Hanefeld, co-Chair of the Global EMT Strategic Advisory Group, for your leadership driving the EMT Initiative and your dedication to advancing the EMT Regional Action Plan (RAP) 2024–2030. This plan is in line with our Joint Declaration to boost strategic partnerships for resilient health systems and stronger emergency responses in Europe - building on #COVID_19 lessons. Happy to see the EMT RAP 2030 as a flagship under the upcoming Preparedness2.0 strategy, paving the way for a modern & robust emergency response framework. #RC74CPH #RC74 #HealthForAll

It was great to host @AfricaCDC colleagues participating in @rki_de's 'Developing Global Public Health Leadership' programme at the @WHO Hub in Berlin Insightful discussion on the importance of public health intelligence and #CollaborativeSurveillance in Africa #GlobalHealth

🙏 to > 277 colleagues from countries across the @WHO_Europe Region for being at joint briefing with @ECDC_EU & @Folkhalsomynd 🇸🇪 on Mpox situation: step up measures we know that work, with communities at the centre, & working together on how new strain ‚behaves‘ in Europe.

Honoured to call Johanna @RKI a friend. Sitting making plans #WHA77 @WHOGOARN & Emergency Medical Teams EMT. Watch this space in the coming months #collaboration

Emergency Medical Teams (EMT) represent the best of us, at the worst of times. They are a vital pillar in the Global Health Emergency Corps. Last year, the EMT Initiative supported the response to many health emergencies, including the conflicts in Gaza and Ukraine, earthquakes in Syria, Türkiye and Morocco, floods in Libya and Malawi, the cyclone and cholera outbreak in Malawi, a mass casualty incident in Armenia, and the complex humanitarian emergency in Sudan, with refugees in Chad and Ethiopia. The ability to deploy at a moment’s notice comes from years of preparation. Globally, @WHO has classified 40 teams from 24 countries, comprising more than 25,000 professionals. We are now in the process of verifying a further 112 teams from 57 countries. Thank you all once again for your support and solidarity, and for the hope that you provide in some of the most hopeless situations.

I am really excited and humbled to be giving my inaugural lecture (3 years late due to COVID) on 8 May, reflecting on my experiences of research and seeking to make a difference. In person &link lshtm.ac.uk/newsevents/eve… @HSR_LSHTM @H_S_Global @MartenRobert @AgwuP @eleanor_hutch

In sorrow, we bid farewell to our longtime colleague Jukka Pukilla, killed in a car crash in his beloved Sarajevo. Jukka’s compassion was legendary across his humanitarian career, amid formidable challenges. Hyvästi ystävä. Sinun valosi palaa kirkkaasti sydämissämme aina. 🩷 🪽
