who's familiar w Goodhart's law? in essence: "when a measure becomes a target, it ceases to be a good measure" (h/t @samrags_) x402 servers figured out how to circumvent our gamed txn flagging methodology (which wasn't too difficult tbh), so we rebuilt it the old method only caught obvious circular flows, but this second iteration uses a combination of heuristics that make it much more robust in identifying gaming patterns so w these improvments in flagging this gaming, the story looks different now: 1) x402 gaming is still rampant -- servers just got better at hiding it. 2) @base clearly has demonstrated the most consistent x402 activity, @0xPolygon's recent strides in fostering agentic x402 activity are real, and ~86% of @solana's all-time x402 activity is gamed (the below chart filters out gamed txns) 3) when filtering out gamed txns, Infrastructure & Utilities is now the dominant category for genuine x402 activity -- this includes servers like x402-secure-api.t54.ai (by @t54ai), @AgentLISA_ai, echo.merit.systems (by @merit_systems), @BetoraPro (the below chart filters out gamed txns) 4) @PayAINetwork is facilitating the most real x402 activity (the below chart filters out gamed txns) there are many ways to react to this data. sometimes inflating numbers is part of the playbook, especially early on when you're trying to demonstrate traction or bootstrap a network effect. but if we're serious about x402 and agentic payments being adopted on the largest scale, we need to see through the noise. i'm not trying to call anyone out -- i'm trying to bring attention to the right signals and the teams actually shipping legitimate use cases. identify the real builders. the real use cases. the real momentum. that's how the space moves forward x402.

Thank you to the journalists for the article based on my data! January 2026: nearly 2M payment transfers on @0xPolygon - a doubling in 2 months. Key drivers: AI agents for payments, $10-$100 USDC transactions, partnerships with @Revolut, @stripe and the acquisition of @0xsequence. Q4 2025: $3.5B in volume through 50+ apps (+96% QoQ). Polygon shows monthly growth in payment transfers, with the number of transfers reaching almost 2M in January. I would like to note that just two months ago, this figure was less than 1M transfers. The reason for this was the rapid use of payment AI agents on Polygon, which accelerated the growth of the “micro” category, and an increase in the number of card products on interesting payment solutions that influenced the growth of the ‘small’ and “medium” categories. I expect the figures for February to grow significantly, and we will see the number of transactions reach around 2.3M.

Another take: most high value transactions in the fiat world are really just bundles of smaller payments all being settled at once after-the-fact because it's impractical to process them in real time. Unbundling those payments into small and micro payments via @0xPolygon is the future of money movement and we're already seeing early signs of it.

💸 50% of all payment transactions on Polygon are small transactions ranging from $10 to $100. This shows that Polygon is an excellent payment rail for crypto cards and other payment services with a medium, large customer and merchant base. Small transactions exceeded 500k in November 2025, which is 23% more than in October. _ * The calculation methodology consists of identifying the most active payment projects on the Polygon - those that account for more than 80% of the total payment volume.
