Going into a library and browsing the shelves (seeing what books are literally next to each other) can be a very useful research experience which this change will kill. Also, a lot of books aren’t available in online formats. A step “forward” that is really ten steps backwards…

@MarkWitton @JaimeHeadden @bonz_us Seems like the way to go (as it seems the genus was new too?) is to call it an unnamed compsognathid. Or the compsognathid formerly known as ...

Hey, PalaeoTwitter: what's the best way to handle the name "Ubirajara jubatus" now that the paper has been withdrawn? I'm working on a commission of it, but am I working on Ubirajara, "Ubirajara" or "technically unnamed compsognathid"? Are we in nomen nudum territory?

@MarkWitton @JaimeHeadden @bonz_us AFAIK, the fact that the electronic pub. was not (is not) registered with the Official Register of Zoological Nomenclature (ZooBank) means that the name does not meet requirements for electronic publishing and so is not valid.

@ibogost Stop hating on marine biology. Wikipedia redirects both seastar and sea star to starfish. (Need I say more?) Those in the sea star camp are clearly a radicalized fringe group (probably English majors 🧐). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starfish

I've been building courses and teaching about #cloudnative technologies for about ten years now and I have yet to find an LMS platform that handles code well. Katacoda is a step in the right direction but has too many guardrails. Has anyone used/heard of one? #edtech

Just in case you were wondering if any invertebrates have vertebrae, here you go. This is a vertebral element from the #ophiuroid Ophiura. These are fused ossicles (note the suture along the midline) that core the arms #Echinodermata

What's the opposite of self-service? 🤔 You can have a central team that 1. offers self-service capabilities 2. offers capabilities by ticket What's 2 called?

A remarkable way to look at how an organization is connected and provides a stunning visualization of what "silos" in a company look like. microsoft.com/en-us/worklab/…

Corporate profits only accounted for roughly 11% of price growth from 1979 to 2019. Today, record corporate profits account for 53.9% of price increases. Folks, corporate greed is driving inflation, not workers asking for better wages.
