.@KGoldMD et al has published an @AnnFamMed paper finding patients prefer fast portal messaging from their own primary care doc vs. faster in-person or video visits w/ another doc. This highlights rising demand for messaging & clinic workflow challenges. michmed.org/PYqv9

@umfamilymed new study supporting the importance of having a usual #pcp !!! #primarycare @KGoldMD
Annals of Family Medicine@AnnFamMed

annfammed.org/content/23/2/1… This study found that #PrimaryCare patients prefer their PCP for routine & chronic care, willing to wait weeks for certain concerns. However, only 7.2% would wait for urgent issues, favoring the first available clinician. As urgent care rises & health systems prioritize rapid access over continuity, this study suggests these shifts may not align with patient preferences, which emphasize trust and continuity over convenience. @umichmedicine

Why do we make patients wait - innovate new ways of dealing with continuity and demand the systems we work in let us have the autonomy to try them. No more call centers, no more dial sequences, just staff and clinicians making it work. @AAFP_advocacy @pcpcc

If patients prefer their personal physician, why are practices not organized to assure access and continuity? We owe it to them. @PCPCC @AAFP_advocacy Convenience or Continuity: When Are Patients Willing to Wait to See Their Own Doctor? annfammed.org/content/23/2/1…

Most of the 4,795 patients we surveyed preferred to wait to see their Primary Care doctor for check-ups, follow-ups, sensitive exams and new health concerns. Convenience or Continuity: When Are Patients Willing to Wait to See Their Own Doctor? annfammed.org/content/23/2/1…

🆕Our researchers, incl. Program Mgr @johnholk, created an electronic health record system to manage high-priority in-basket messages. All docs shared inbox access & workload on a rotating schedule. Results: Reduced feelings of burnout. @AnnFamMed paper: bit.ly/3UXpkZ3

Could physician burnout be reduced by answering each others' urgent in-basket messages? But of course! Our innovation article is live in the new issue of Annals of Family Medicine: annfammed.org/content/22/3/2…

Navalny stood out among the Russian opposition for being a political animal. He was interested in power, agency, change - not merely moral condemnation of the Putin regime. A thread 1/13

RIP to my dad, Dr. Andrew Pasternak. A child psychiatrist, he was my role model for being a physician and being a husband. You battled for the last few months but we are so glad you are no longer suffering.

1/15. Today I read a number of Republican elected representatives assigning themselves the role of judge and jury in the Trump espionage case.
