@TfL Hello, why does your app refer to replacement buses for the District line this morning when there were none at Wimbledon?

"If I’d applied to burn down Clandon, when it was in its pristine, beautiful state, would I have got planning permission? I hope not. This is the same.” Such odd stuff. Who has ever applied to a local authority for permission to commit arson? gbnews.com/news/national-…

@SW_Help Your app said the train was on time right up until it was meant to depart when suddenly it wasn’t. The staff at Bournemouth didn’t know what was going on. Why are you unable to own the chaos and just apologise?

@johnnythin Hi Jonathan, live information is available on our website and app. If you are at the station you can also use our station help points or speak to staff to get information. ^ND

@SW_Help will you apologise for the appalling service around Bournemouth? You refund delays but what about the stress caused by service promises not kept, chaotic platform information, trains shown as on time not turning up, stops cancelled, having to change trains mid-journey?

@SW_Help You seem to have missed the point, it’s not the delay I’m complaining about per se, but the stress caused by the lack of reliable information

@Plusnet Thanks very much for the reply - we have now arranged a new appointment on the phone, but I have concerns about the failure of communication (as well as the delay) so would appreciate some guidance on how to submit a complaint.

@Plusnet We had a fibre installation slot booked today for which I waited in - no-one turned up, there was no communication and when we called you had no information on what had happened. We'd be grateful for an explanation and a prompt resolution.

Today Stukeley is the most celebrated of the 18th-century antiquaries but not all his peers agreed. Samuel Pegge wrote that 'The Doctor, I am sensible, has his admirers, but I confess I am not one of that number, as not being fond of wildness and enthusiasm upon any subject.'

No trick-or-treating on Hallowe'en 100 years ago, which was associated with Scotland and fortune-telling. The Evening Telegraph had to explain this foreign custom to Londoners while the Westminster Gazette gave housewives tips on Halloween party games.

A great loss, not just to Neolithic studies but to so many areas of heritage policy and practice where he made pioneering contributions, from the Monuments at Risk Survey to the Archaeological Investigations Project and his recent work on mental health and wellbeing - thanks Tim

It is with tremendous sadness that we share the news that our colleague and friend Professor Timothy Darvill has passed away who had been diagnosed with cancer only a few months ago.
