@BaxterWilliams_ The joke being you could have a hell of infinitely many times (moments of time), without it lasting an infinite amount of time.

@johnrstaker @waldenpod It just came across my feed. And the comment you made still sounds like the ramblings of a stroke victim. WTF were you trying to say? I'm so confused dude.

@TomasBogardus Imagine the case is the same as what you meant by “figment of Smith’s imagination”. I’m questioning that what Mormons are referring to follows from whether Smith was a liar/lunatic. If we found out tomorrow that Calvin wrote the institutes while on LSD, we wouldn’t hold that 1/2

The problem isn't that Mormons are too wrong to be talking about God. Rather, too much info about Heavenly Father is not really misinformation *about God*, but rather about a figment of J. Smith's imagination. That's the peril of blasphemy: loss of linguistic contact with God.
Dr Christopher Tomaszewski@adorientem

I think this depends on precisely what one means by “follow”, but if all one means is that they both thinks that Jesus of Nazareth was a great moral teacher worth obeying and emulating, then probably, yes. But they don’t worship the same God. Mormons get God too wrong.

@LonghornJoker Maybe even with divine command theory you could be an atheist. If it’s something similar to a hypothetical social contract theory, but in terms of what a perfectly rational God would set as the rules.

@LonghornJoker @poperespecter1 I know I’m just a pagan, but you also never know what you will get at the TLM. Of the two TLM parishes near my house, one is full of wholesome young families. The other, incels, nazis, and integralists.

I prefer a respectful and tasteful Novus Ordo Mass to the TLM and I think 99% of Catholics do. I am grateful for a mass in the vernacular, longer scripture readings, and increased participation of the faithful. Vatican 2 was no mistake. It was a gift from God.
FischerKing@FischerKing64

This will not happen - but if the new Pope just overturned Vatican II, recognized it was a mistake, made Latin Mass the standard - this would result in a reduction in parishioners initially. But it would create the mustard seed that Benedict XVI always talked about - and a future

Pope Francis famously called on Catholics to “make a mess.” He surely did, and now it’s up to us to clean up. Pray for the soul of Pope Francis, pray for the next pope, and pray for Holy Mother Church. Francis is dead, but the papacy endures. crisismagazine.com/opinion/the-po…

@LatFilosof @Benthamsbulldog Haven’t seen the debate, and probably won’t. Curious why you think the gamete definition (which I, a non-expert, take to be standard in evolutionary biology) is bad?

@Benthamsbulldog Most of his argument was that ”woman = adult human female” fits most of the time, therefore we should stick to it. Like, from a practicality standpoint, sure. But thats not the point 💀 also its circular unless you define what a female is and the gamete definition is bad.

@AStrasser116 That there isn’t a fact of the matter. There will be some cases where all views are consistent with the ordinary use of “same person”, and cases where all views conflict.

Cosmological/Design arguments with inductively justified premises seems like grasping at straws to me. We’re dealing with deductive proofs that God doesn’t exist, and you guys are arguing theism is slightly more probable given causation/fine-tuning? Why waste my time on this?
