one thing that never gets mentioned about Gather Round is how the AFL is giving the NRL a free swing at the Melbourne and Perth markets by allowing them to host games in those cities with zero competition this weekend

@tim_michell I am sick to death of people not understanding the picks Hawthorn offered. Their pick 10 last year - we got it off Carlton anyway. So the offer was basically 2026 first rounder, 2027 first & Hustwaite. So roughly a pick 20, pick 30 (because of Tassie) & a VFL player. Laughable

Do you think in hindsight Essendon should have taken Hawthorn's offer for Merrett? I think it was unders but considering where the Bombers are at it doesn't look great right now.

That was an extraordinary press conference from Brad Scott. Admitted some players didn’t have a will to defend, admitted some went into self preservation mode, admitted there is a cultural problem with older players not digging in when it gets tough. Even on top of diabolical skills and players fumbling and handballing way too much. Just wow
Jon Ralph@RalphyHeraldSun

Brad Scott on his message to Essendon fans after THAT loss. “I have said this for three years, I am never going to tell Essendon fans to be patient. I reckon 25 years is long enough to hear the same message but if I am an Essendon fan I watch the character of these players and particularly the younger players who will make them proud one day. As frustrating as it is, good clubs stick together. You can give up or you can fight. I believe in these guys and think they are made of the right stuff.” @FOXFOOTY

@Carteagle He’s going to be very good. Could have played last week but 4 debutants would have been too many. Robey will also be quality.

@mattricho0 Everyone agrees with you Richo but the AFL are too stubborn to change anything. Best was Dillon yesterday on 3AW saying only a third of people want the Grand Final to be played during the day time. Insanely naive

@BubuSmelsz I would be giving this a 3/10. Port should be in black shorts and have a teal number on their back without the white border.

Rare listen to SEN on the drive. When ads finally stopped Dillon is on. 10 minutes of saying nothing and no one challenging him on his non-answers. Waste of everyone’s time. Extremely disheartening.

@superfooty Better off playing all three rather than Gresham, Guelfi, Prior etc. Essendon are finishing bottom 4 either way. Play the kids.

@RalphyHeraldSun Move it to the week before GF… only players that miss are in the GF and also gives players in the GF the chance to get up, eg. Concussion protocols. Seems obvious to me

Clubs including the Suns have told the AFL the running loads from state of origin are unsustainable. Three Suns recorded career-high GPS figures as the injury toll grows. Clubs would want lesser total game time, more interchange numbers next year 👇 heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/afl-…

The solution to batting problems? Just chuck a ridiculous amount of batters in the XI. Fair.
