@VadimYuryev Try omarchy.org has a great install flow, and steam games work well, too!

THIS is how it's done. Selling Laptops with Linux pre-installed. THIS is the dream to get away from Windows.
Now if only we had better app & game support, but for many common tasks, it should work much better and more reliably.
Framework@FrameworkPuter
Framework Laptop 13 Pro is selling far above our forecast, and we've sold out of the first six batches already. Also nice validation of our approach, the Ubuntu configurations are outselling the Windows ones!

@it_unprofession To be fair… It’s the same way that employees quit. Makes your heart sink and stomach drop just as much. 💔😫

My boss just sent me a Slack message that says "hey do you have a sec?"
No context.
Just the digital equivalent of a tap on the shoulder before an execution.
I replied "sure, what's up?" two minutes ago.
The little indicator says he's typing.
He's been typing for three solid minutes.
What could possibly take three minutes to type?
Are we restructuring the entire org chart?
Am I being fired via a multi-paragraph manifesto?
I checked his calendar and he has a meeting with HR at noon.
My heart rate is currently higher than it was during my last stress test.
He finally hit send.
"Do you know how to convert a PDF to a Word doc?"
I'm going to bill the company for my future cardiology appointments.

The kids are finally down. House is quiet. Wife's asleep.
And you're sitting on the couch doing absolutely nothing useful, and you know it, and you're doing it anyway.
Not because you're not tired. You're exhausted. But this is the first hour all day where nobody needs you to do anything or find anything or explain why we don't eat ice cream before dinner. So you just... sit in it. Stretch it out. One more episode. Ten more minutes of scrolling through things you won't remember tomorrow.
You've done this probably a thousand times and it has never once made you feel better. You wake up groggy, already behind, already at a seven before anything's even gone wrong. The patience you needed to bank last night got traded for two hours of half-asleep YouTube. And the version of you your kids get the next morning is the taxed one, the flat one, the one who snaps over something small and then feels bad about it while making their lunch.
What's actually happening is you're confusing rest with reclaiming something. Like if you stay up long enough you'll eventually feel like a full person again instead of just a guy who works and parents and goes to bed and does it again. But that feeling never really comes. There's no amount of late-night nothing that actually fills it back up. You know this. You do it anyway.
The only thing that actually helps is sleep, which is such a boring answer that you resist it every single night.
So try this. Around ten o'clock, ask yourself whether what you're doing is actually recharging you or whether you're just putting off going to bed because going to bed means tomorrow starts sooner.
Most nights it's the second one.
Close the phone. Go to sleep.
The morning will be different. Not perfect. Just different.
That's worth something.

@natedamm @VadimYuryev @FrameworkPuter @linusgsebastian I have 64gb on my preorder right now, but I'm thinking about editing it and dropping to 32gb, saving $410, and then upgrading to the 96gb chips when they come out!

English

@VadimYuryev @FrameworkPuter @linusgsebastian I dropped the nvme lower and maxed the ram for a similar price, can't wait!
English

Sorry about everything I said about @FrameworkPuter raising RAM prices..
Time to FINALLY test the Intel Panther Lake X9 388H in a completely user-upgradeable laptop!
This BETTER be good @linusgsebastian
Stay tuned for July on Max Tech YouTube! #frameworklaptop

@zquestz @FrameworkPuter From what I read, yes. But those specific modules aren't released yet, but panther lake supports it, theoretically. tweaktown.com/news/110161/he…

@zachsa999 @FrameworkPuter I don't follow... there's the same amount of room for your stubby digit 😂 you can just tell when you're resting on the keys properly when the left and right are half height keys in a full height slot. Apple is going the wrong direction on this versus their old style.

English

@jondkinney @FrameworkPuter Nah, I dislike halfsies, my finger is too stubby and I end up pressing all of them
English

AND the upgradeable LPCAMM2 - LPDDR5X 8533 Memory. Sure you can "only" get 64gb right now, but 96gb is possible on Panther Lake. So I assume it'll be avail at some point. Actually has me thinking about downgrading my preorder to 32gb to save $400 towards the 96gb later this year. tweaktown.com/news/110161/he…

@dhh @FrameworkPuter seems like if you value a oled, you go with the XPS. If you value a normal keyboard and upgradability, go with the framework.... Hard decision, but I think its Framework for me, because of the company. Plus, I intend to dock it most of the time anyways... But that oled though
English

Congrats to @FrameworkPuter for shipping the new F13 Pro with Panther Lake! I've had a unit for a while, and made sure that Omarchy works great on it out of the box. Love the fun new colors for the keyboard too. If you're fine with an IPS panel, this is a great choice.

English

@mronge Yea, definitely. I was just harkening back to when it first started happening at scale. But you're right! macrumors.com/2025/06/11/app…
English

@jondkinney It never stopped really, they still regularly sherlock apps
English

Building SaaS on top of Anthropic must be what Mac OS developers felt like in the late 90's / early 2000's. You could wake up any morning #sherlocked with a pile of code worth literally zero dollars.

@ibuildthecloud @jonmasters Give this a shot. Works on m1/m2 hardware, as well as m3+ in a VM. I've taken great care to make sure the VM story doesn't suck. It may not be quite as polished as x86 hardware, but I know several people using it as their daily driver. github.com/basecamp/omarc…
English

@jonmasters that's a though. so I currently run WSL2 in windows and have survived doing that. So maybe do the same on a mac. Hmm....
English

@TrungTPhan ngl, pretty envious of that cable management tho...
English

@jondkinney For strictly compiling `eas build` is world-class. For the entire process, consider agent.expo.dev (still in beta) which can perform development tasks in a sandbox.
