Suspending right to buy should be a day one priority for any Labour government. It’s a policy that has decimated social housing stock and transferred affordable homes into the hands of buy-to-let landlords who jack up rents with the state often picking up the bill.

Reducing the right-to-buy discounts is an important first step in ending a policy that has decimated council housing across the country. Social housing must be at the centre of Labour's housing plans.

The government is acting to protect our social housing stock and build more affordable homes. This weekend we've announced: ✅A £500m top-up to the Affordable Homes Programme. ✅A reduction of Right to Buy discounts. ✅Allowing councils to retain 100% of Right to Buy receipts.

So if you’re earning six figures, own assets, run a business, invest, work in the private sector, or qualify for inheritance tax - Labour doesn’t see you as a “working person”? Have I got this right?
