The Islamic Republic has executed two more Iranians #YaqubKarimpour and #NaserBazarzadeh over alleged spying.
This puts the total number of executions in Iran so far in 2026 at 614, with grave concerns that this killing spree will continue and even accelerate.

🔴The Judiciary of the Islamic Republic announced that the death sentences of #YaqubKarimpour and #NaserBakarzadeh were carried out at dawn on Saturday, May 2, 2026, after being upheld by the Supreme Court. According to this institution, Yaqub Karimpour had been sentenced to death on charges of "espionage and intelligence cooperation with Israel," and Naser Bakarzadeh on charges of "corruption on Earth (Efsad-e Fel-Arz) through cooperation with the Mossad." 🔸The judiciary claimed the specific charges against the two individuals included "sending information from military sites," "acts of sabotage," "manufacturing acoustic bombs," and "field cooperation with Mossad officers." However, a significant portion of the case was based on confessions attributed to the defendants, and no details regarding how these confessions were obtained have been independently released. 🔸Reports indicate that these two prisoners were previously held in Urmia Prison. Yaqub Karimpour, a citizen of the Yarsan faith, was arrested in Miandoab in June 2025. According to informed sources, during his detention, he was denied access to a lawyer and family visitations, and was placed under pressure to confess. 🔸Regarding Naser Bakarzadeh, it is reported that he had been in detention since December 2023. His case proceedings involved his sentence being overturned several times by the Supreme Court; however, he was ultimately sentenced to death for a third time, and the sentence was carried out.

@jonnydgannon @danielbenaim But in the end the tech companies should be working to benefit common Americans. How long will they continue to import H1Bs and outsource all the jobs to places like India? I'm sure there will be a backlash against them in the next 10 years.

The UAE leaving OPEC is not a shock so much a sign of a broader shift away from traditional frameworks. As I argued last week at the @HSBC Global Investment Summit, we’re not necessarily moving toward a new order, but into sustained disorder, at least in the short term, where states act less through institutions and more through coalitions of convenience, based on narrowly defined national interests, that can form and dissolve as needed.
The question isn’t whether this is good or bad, but rather how to understand individual countries’ interests and what options they have to advance those interests.
Some will double down on institutional frameworks, some will find new partners, and some will attempt to play a spoiler role to keep others around them weak as a way to stay “strong.”
Too soon to declare winners and losers of this new (dis) order but I would caution against trying to understand it through old or “traditional” lenses.
