we struggle to get nonmotor subtypes of Parkinson in the mainstream !! nice to see though the sleep subtype in paper after the NA subtype. Real implications for Parkinson patients who still drive or swim! @MubasherQamar @KingsCollegeLon @CureParkinsonsT @ampodlewska

@Avng_Medusa @MichaelOkun @drpouratian @DBSThinkTank Personally, I don't mind the term DBS. It says exactly what It is and what it does. 'Brain pacemaker', to my mind suggests that the brain is being paced. In other words it's a sluggish brain! I do use the term brain pacemaker from time to time but prefer DBS. Just saying.

Time to abandon the name deep brain stimulation? How about a rebrand to 'brain pacemaker' which could ultimately provide a better connection to the persons with disease and to their families. Great discussion stimulated by @drpouratian at the @DBSThinkTank nejm.org/doi/full/10.10… @PdAvengers

Don't buy Cue 1 or Eye Guide MC or any other device purporting to relieve PD symptoms until the companies selling them have fully evaluated them in controlled trials lasting for at least 12 months

@ajlees @janealty1 I wish I had been there, Andrew, and heard your talk. I have been to Scanmodis once, in Stockholm, with Tom Isaacs and Sara Riggare, some years back now, and found it very well organized.

I talked about stress and Parkinsons, type 2 diabetes and Parkinson’s disease and Jane Alty’s optic flow computer vision with Eulerian magnification research on invisible tremors at SCANMODIS 21 meeting, Stockholm. Always a well organised and enjoyable annual meeting @janealty1

If allowed to speak freely without interruption patients present their complaints in an average of 7 minutes. Several further thoughtful open ended questions are thenneeded. Some patients find checklists demeaning, tiring and frightening. They are unvalidated I never use them
