We've reached the reductio ad absurdum of current right-wing culture war obsessions - that, per Tucker, Bannon, et al, full-scale invasion of another country is no biggie because, after all, it's not nearly the affront that calling someone racist or supporting trans kids is.

My thought on this is that if you remember what the climate was like in the 2000s towards people of color, this becomes very clear. “Arab” was intended as a slur implying “untrustworthy” or “terrorist”. On the spot, McCain shut down what he knew the lady was getting at.
