An appalling interview by Minister Don Farrell on ABC RN breakfast today. Mansplaining is patronising, but doing so innacurately is bollocks... the FTA with EU is a turd for ag. (great statements by @NationalFarmers President. Hamish McIntyre is really putting #ausag out well).

@timmort_ @bowtiedstocks Yes the establishment must be worried about attendances. It will be interesting to see how the Waratahs, whos forward pack looks very strong, go against the NZ teams. If they start winning I reckon the crowds will turn up in Sydney at least.

@bowtiedstocks You reckon super rugby is dead? I reckon the quality of the footy is as good as its been in the past two years. And way better to follow with no games in SA. But crowd numbers still not great.

Nearly double the tax revenue is raised from beer alone than gas
Fusilier@firstfusilier

Hey @AlboMP, if you’ve ever wondered whether you and your handpicked team of economic illiterates could organise a piss up in a brewery, here’s your answer.

Looking at index hindcasts, performance of the BoM model looks very respectable - it will certainly add skill to the multi-model ensemble.

It's been a long wait but the Australian BoM model is now showing up in the @CopernicusECMWF C3S database (seasonal forecast data). Hindcasts only for now, realtime forecasts next month apparently. Always fun to run a new model through our calibration and skill tests.

@afneil That's the dumbest thing I've heard. What about the balance of trade on farm tractors? That's like us complaining the US doesn't buy our brands - 'cause we are not competitive up against John Deere and neither is their beef against ours. #fairdinkum

This is typical of the nonsense being spouted by pro-tariff politicians in US. Australia exports about £3bn beef per year to US at zero tariffs up to a quota laid down in US/Aus free trade agreement. US exports no beef to Aus because it does not meet Aus hormone and biosecurity restrictions. Nothing to do with tariffs. Same reason Europe/UK won’t import US beef. Even if US meat met Aus standards very little would be exported. Aus is self-sufficient in meat, US a big importer i.e not self-suffient. Again, nothing to do with tariffs.
Unofficial Trump on X@trump_repost

"I appreciate what the President is doing on tariffs...Australia has sold $29 billion worth of beef in the United States, and we haven't been able to sell one hamburger in Australia because of barriers...you look at these numbers, and the ranchers of Wyoming are saying thank you Mr. President, it is about time!"

Tough day for my family and i. Grew up on these farms and poured my heart into them for the last 14 years building a resilient business, all for broken promises and stubbornness against succession.Parents rather lease out than give me a go.Very disheartening for my true passion 😭

@AJGrovefarming Good things are around the corner, you just don't know it yet. That was Claire and I after 19 years doing 90 hrs a week. The reboot meant a massive weight was lifted. You can/will never change their narrative so free yourself of the guilt. Wishing you well.

Strengthening positive Pacific Meridional Mode (PMM) during July and August is a factor in the recent increase of tropical development in the West #Pacific.

March 2024 was the moistest March on record for the planet 📈 A warmer world is a moister world: this is evidenced by a weather variable called "total column water" or "precipitable water", the total moisture amount in a column of air, from the ground all the way up to the top of the atmosphere. We track global monthly temperature rankings in near real-time, so why not atmospheric moisture too? To help bridge this gap, I make available a global moisture anomaly map and ranking chart, updated once a month around the 7th on this page: bennollweather.com/weather-graphi… You are welcome to download the high resolution imagery and/or embed the graphics on a webpage.
