The withdrawal of the opportunity to apply for direct funding through the Creative Scotland Open Fund for Individuals will deprive the majority of playwrights in Scotland the means to work and destroys any sense that their work is valued by those who fund our culture.

But I'd go a step further and say, the Open Fund for Individuals is not just where it starts. It is often what is funding the most interesting art in Scotland TO COMPLETION. Not just seeds but forests.

@FergusMorgan And some applications are bad, yep. But an enormous amount of very good applications - I’m not talking about ones written by me - are falling between the cracks of CS’s managerial criteria. At the moment, CS is actively participating in the impoverishment of art in Scotland.

The cognitive dissonance of Nicola Sturgeon, Angus Robertson and others over Scotland's culture industries is genuinely astonishing.
