We have thousands of homeless veterans; we have military housing in disrepair.
We ought to be able to tell our veterans and our service members that this military construction and VA bill is not the piggy bank that will be raided for the triumphal arch.
I’m disappointed my amendment to safeguard these funds wasn’t adopted.

@OldRebelNMyrtle Your ancestors also thought owning other humans was acceptable. You don’t have to blindly follow your ancestors.

@Alaskans4BE No I was agreeing with you and that they states need to allow the people to have a voice in their government and not gerrymander
English

@jrightofcenter Sorry to hear about the cough, but happy to clear up the confusion!
Some states (ex: New Mexico) have partially open primaries. Alaska is different.
Here, all voters get a primary ballot with all candidates on it, regardless of party. The top 4 vote-getters advance.
Truly open.

Alaskans for Better Elections@Alaskans4BE
Alaska chooses candidates with open primaries, elects leaders with ranked choice voting, and governs by cross-partisan coalition. Unique? Certainly, but we're ok doing things a little differently because ensuring voters come first shouldn't be radical.

I’m endorsing @BrianBengs for U.S. Senate in South Dakota.
What stands out is his focus on getting past the red vs. blue noise and actually addressing real problems. He’s willing to call out how both parties are influenced by big money and put that front and center.
He’s also bringing real-world experience—military, law, and education—which shows in how he talks about policy. It’s practical, not performative.
If you’re looking for someone focused on integrity, accountability, and putting people over party, Bengs is worth a serious look.

English

I’m endorsing @AnnieAndrewsMD for U.S. Senate in South Carolina.
She brings something that’s missing in politics right now—real-world experience outside of government. As a doctor, she’s actually dealt with the consequences of policy, not just talked about it.
I don’t agree with her on everything, but she seems focused on solving problems instead of playing political games. That matters more to me than party labels.
South Carolina needs someone who can bring a practical, grounded perspective to Washington. I think she offers that.

English

@jrightofcenter @thelastbluedog As cool as it would be for her to run again, I don’t see it happening. I think she’s pretty much done with politics.
English

Hey @HouseBlueDogs,
can you please recruit Stephanie Herseth Sandlin to run again? @augiepres
English

I’m endorsing @DustyJohnson for South Dakota Governor.
He strikes me as the kind of leader who focuses more on results than noise. Pragmatic, steady, and not trying to be the loudest guy in the room—that matters right now.
He has proven to be someone who can govern, not just campaign. That’s a big difference.
South Dakota doesn’t need chaos or extremes—it needs competence and balance. I think he brings that.

English

If the @HouseBlueDogs or any conservative democrat coalition forms in any significant way, I’ll change my party affiliation from independent to democrat in a heartbeat

@sgodofsk The government doesn’t have to subsidize speech it disagrees with so long as it doesn’t suppress that speech.
English

this seems blatantly unconstitutional? it's clearly viewpoint based

I can’t believe he betrayed McCain like this and backed Democrat Mike Huckabee. I will no longer be voting for him if he runs.
