@RunGoodLife Also think about the implications for future panini unlicensed product if this is successful. They're trying to keep everyone else out of the space.

At face value, this looks like good ole fashioned legal bully ball and the NFLPA making up rules as they go along to appease new partners. They tried similar tactics a couple years ago against Panini and lost in the courts. Just very clever timing here makes this a bad faith lawsuit in my opinion. NFLPA has allowed Leaf to operate in a similar manner for well over a decade, and only now it's a problem? Will Wild Card be receiving a similar lawsuit for issues with their sets as well? We'll see how it plays out but Leaf has my full support. Competition in the marketplace is necessary. Collectors and consumers should have options. Leaf makes great products, regardless of what the hivemind has been trained to believe.
Sports Collectors Daily@SportsCollector

Just weeks after Topps completing its trio of takeovers, the NFL Players Association and NFL Players Inc have filed a first-ever lawsuit against Leaf Trading Cards for producing cards without obtaining a group license >>> sportscollectorsdaily.com/nflpa-files-la…

@AcmePacks Saw someone pull a Jeanty to /50 auto and say "This has to be a $1000 card, right?". He then listed it on ebay for $1,500. Mind you, you can buy a low #'d Jeanty on card NT RPA for under $200 regularly on ebay. This is pure mania.

@lukasbattle You joke, but there used to be a decorated mailbox at Coachella for people to drop post cards in. They had to add a sign explicitly telling people not to put their tax returns or other critical mail in there.

@GabeyCardStacks Wait, they are seriously doing a whole series of releases for the 2025 class? I figured they would drop chrome and move straight into the 2026 class. Man, the 2025 class card market is going to wreck some investors.

With Netflix on the verge of cancelling yet another show after one season, Bill Hader absolutely nailed it with this scene in Barry.

@RunGoodLife They don't know what they're buying. They just assume the arrow points up on every new product these days.

Get ready to be told by every breaker in the world that has Cosmic FDI that it’s a $2500 box. They don’t understand the wax market enough to properly evaluate what a box should cost, and they certainly can’t run their businesses on less than 50% Margin. Zero guaranteed autos for $1550 floor. Wow.

@AcmePacks I am certain a fair number of buyers have no idea that current players aren't in this product. Just saw "Prizm Black" and pounced.

Sold out at $1200. There are zero rookies or current players in this product. Has cool FOTL bonuses but this had zero business going that high.

@SatchelPrice @BenMBurrows @the27guy @CardLadder Agree with this, and will add that the football market is just incredibly oriented around rookies. Star vets and retired legends just don't hold value in the same way that they do in the NBA. And if players struggle after their rookie year, their value plummets.

@BenMBurrows @the27guy @CardLadder One variable here is that Panini and Topps bifurcated major licenses, mem access and auto rights, effectively making it difficult for either one to create a mega rookie auto chase like RDPAs. Football market also just less global and less mature in general vs MLB/NBA

Where have the ultra high-end football card collectors gone? @the27guy noticed there hasn't been a public $1 million-plus football card sale since June 14, 2023. Meanwhile there's been 54 from other categories. Below is a snapshot of the @CardLadder Football Index since that last seven-figure sale. The category hasn't matched its pandemic highs, but nearly 20% growth is far from insignificant. Maybe high-end collectors have experienced fatigue buying Brady and Mahomes? Joe Burrow once had a card sell for $1.7M, but he hasn't had one top $200,000 since December 2022. Justin Herbert has had two sales top $1M, but his last $200,000-plus sale was in September 2022. There's a ton of factors at play, but it feels odd to see regular seven-figure sales for baseball and basketball but not one for the most popular sport in the United States.

@datnewcardsmell @footballcardfun Their NBA patches were almost always player/game used as long as the player wasn't a rookie. Given how long it has been since Panini has had consistent access to NFL and college unis, I wouldn't get your hopes up for this product to be any different than the typical NFL release

@footballcardfun The NBA version was loaded with leftover game used mem that they needed to clear. Would be cool if it was even half the same for football.

🚨 NEW PRODUCT 🚨 2025 Panini Silhouette looks super cool and appears to feature an aggregation of sets from other products that didn’t release this year, including: - Vanta - Gala (my favorite!) - White Night 16 cards per box. 4 autos/mems. 4 parallels. More photos ⬇️

@BestBuySupport want to buy my Samsung S26 Ultra through you, but your trade-in program isn't showing the appropriate color option for my old phone (S24 Ultra). Anyway we can get that fixed to reflect the Samsung online exclusive colors? (Titanium Blue, Green, and Orange)

Elon's right here. Both parties should get behind the common sense idea that you should have to show your passport in order to vote -- it's the only ID that is strong enough to secure elections. x.com/elonmusk/statu…
Elon Musk@elonmusk

This is great. The two critical factors for voting integrity and saving democracy in America are simply requiring ID and in-person voting! The last one is super important. Mail-in voting should only be for troops overseas or a serious medical condition.

I'm surprised that so many people, including smart people and journos, fell for the fake viral DoorDash outrage post. So many signs it was implausible and/or AI-generated: • Library wifi? Do you guys know any software engineers who use "library wifi" for opsec reasons? • "Drunk and angry" but perfect spelling and punctuation, short, punchy sentences. • Plenty of em-dashes with no spaces on either side (we will soon lose this obvious tell btw, so enjoy the training wheels while you can) • "we purposefully delayed non-priority orders by 5 or 10 minutes" if you believe any real company in the insanely competitive food delivery space would do this you have no idea how anything works. Let alone "management loved the results" (it didn't hurt any of your KPIs? Really?) • "under a massive NDA" "I hope they sue me" lol • Way too many details that add up to perfect outrage-bait -- "desperation score" (no corporation would actually call it that, they'd use a euphemism); "human assets" (I'm pretty sure they just call them dashers or couriers); •"We generated millions in pure profit" engineers in bigcos do not talk this way. Plenty of other implausible details in there too. Everyone will need to upgrade their personal cogsec for the next few years.
