Did you catch Jacob Friedman on the Zero Trust Forum's No Trust podcast? He sat down with Jaye Tillson and John Spiegel to talk about what's actually driving cybersecurity purchasing decisions right now, how to evaluate early-stage vendors without getting burned, and why the gap between visibility and remediation keeps getting wider. If you're heading to RSA next week, the conversation on surviving the expo floor is especially worth your time. Jacob's advice: define what success looks like before you land in San Francisco, or you'll spend the whole week reacting instead of executing. The vendor noise is louder than ever. Showing up without a plan is how you come home with a full inbox and nothing to show for it. 🎧 bit.ly/4uDYzK9 bit.ly/4bQNUEt #EmpowerLeaders #Cybersecurity @jspieg67 @JayeTillson

Microsoft sold 70% of Fortune 500 companies on Copilot. 77% of enterprise AI projects aren’t meeting ROI. I don’t think that’s a coincidence. Copilot is what happens when you start with a capability and work backward to a use case. It’s AI as a productivity add-on layered over existing processes that were never designed for AI. It’s the enterprise version of buying a gym membership and expecting transformation. On the CTO Advisor Road Trip — 1,300 miles from Tennessee with 1300 more to go to San Jose for GTC — We stopped in the Town of Vail and had a conversation that reframed everything. The town manager had no IT background. No AI governance committee. No structured deployment process. No fully modernized data architecture. Successful AI project. Here’s what they did differently: They didn’t ask “what can AI do for us?” They asked “what is taking our people’s time that shouldn’t require human attention?” Decades of handwritten records. Legacy document formats nobody under 40 can read. Siloed data across departments that could benefit each other but couldn’t talk. Cameras already installed for traffic that could also detect fire. Buses that could be rolling data collectors. They started with the mess. The technology followed. Their technology partner — @HPE Unleash AI team — didn’t show up with a pitch deck. They showed up with questions. What are your problems? What does your data look like? Where are your people stuck? That sequence — problem first, technology second — is what separates the 22.8% of AI projects that actually succeed from the 77% that don’t. Copilot inverts that sequence by design. It is the capability. You figure out the use case. That’s not a strategy. That’s an experiment dressed up in an enterprise license. The town didn’t free up headcount to cut it. They freed up headcount to do more of the human work that actually serves their community. Their staff went from resisting AI to asking for more of it — because they were part of the discovery process, not the recipients of a finished system. That’s the AI adoption pattern most enterprises are missing. And no amount of Copilot seats fixes it. Full conversation dropping soon as a podcast episode on The CTO Advisor. More from the #CTOARoadTrip See you at GTC. @COentrepreneur

After nearly a decade with @MoorInsStrat, I’m excited to announce that in the new year, I will establish myself as an independent industry analyst. LoneStar Advisory & Research will continue to focus on my historic practice areas of enterprise and data center networking, telecommunications, and cybersecurity, with new extensibility into universal communications and end device security. Additionally, I am launching a new practice area focused on optical networking infrastructure, interconnects, underlying silicon, and services. The need for highly performant networking has never been more important, especially in today’s modern AI era. Those solution providers that can deliver scale up, out, and across will reap the rewards of the networking infrastructure gold rush. I want to thank @PatrickMoorhead for the opportunity to help build the depth of his firm through my personal contributions and analyst recruitment over the years. His mentorship has been instrumental in my journey. Another shout out to Dan Pickens, the firm’s retired business development lead who provided me with a wealth of advice that continues to sharpen my analysis and writing. Finally, many thanks to the clients that I will continue to work with, and to the new ones that I will work with soon! lonestar-ar.com

Hey @grok according to your analysis, name 25 accounts in sequence who frequently visit my profile. Don’t mention the person, just @.username and the rate of number of times a week they visit my profile.

This shift has been growing underground for a while, and it’s finally about to break the surface. 3 Tree Tech has been building toward something that reflects who we are, what we value, and how we want to show up. It’s about to set a new standard for what leadership in this industry looks like. Stay tuned...

I continue to see excuses. Cisco - your legions of excuse makers are making you look DESPERATE! A better PR strategy is to just ignore it and move on. Put your heads down and do better next time. What I'm seeing is...throwing darts and seeing what lame excuse sticks. Be better
Seth Fiermonti@sethfiermonti

Loving the Cisco excuses. The pundits are out in force!! “It’s politics” “Pay to play” “Something is fishy” I get it. Aruba was a challenger once . . . . …TWENTY years ago!!!
