@drjanetownson @CrowtherSi Is that operational in England or just NI? An enhanced DBS would flag previous conviction. I previously struggled to find anywhere to flag a dismissed employee to prevent future misconduct. Just shows how much due diligence is needed for any employee in any sector.

@juestanny @CrowtherSi It depends how the register operates. In Northern Ireland, for example, they focus on competence and conduct. A criminal conviction is a high bar but employers must report lower level concerns about fitness to practise & things like dismissals

@CrowtherSi @drjanetownson A registered provider could be vicariously liable if the family sued them after proven financial abuse whilst on duty. Registration doesn't stop the abuse in this case a more robust DBS might have!

@drjanetownson If they had chosen a CQC registered provider with proper insurance, then the provider would have been responsible and reimbursed the victim (obvs cant, reimbursement sentimental value). They chose the cheaper DIY option not realising what responsibility and risk that comes with

@kiradavis My parents are from the generation before (silent gen) and I remember being shocked when my daughter was young how many didn't have grandparents support/love & how lucky I was. You might want to explore whether it's geographical too. "ah its cause your family are Northerners"

I’m thinking about writing a book about the devastating phenomenon of baby boomer grandparents refusing to be directly involved with their children and grandchildren. I’ve heard so many sad stories from GenX parents like me recently. I have one too. I think it should be explored

The biggest issue is not creating a sight but maintaining with up-to-date information as things change all the time. This requires a constant hands on approach. Survey done.
