Homelander's speed inconsistency in the Season 5 finale was one of the most annoying talking points for me too. Early on we see him casually yeeting to space and back in seconds, speed-blitzing people, yet in the final fight he's getting held down and can't just fly out or end it quick? It felt like they nerfed him hard for the plot. Kinda took me out of the moment. The ending was still brutal, but damn the powerscaling was all over the place.

I’m confused, because I thought The Deep’s power set was supposed to be at least somewhat similar to Aquaman’s. So why was he swimming slow as molasses like a regular dude fighting the current? And isn’t he supposed to have some kind of telepathic connection with sea life, or at least be able to command fish in some capacity? I don’t know, maybe I’m overthinking it, but this feels less like a power-scaling issue and more like lazy writing. Because if his whole gimmick is ocean-based abilities, then making him look useless in the water makes absolutely no sense. WTF. #Theboys

@Teslimatttt Got kicked in the nuts, throat punched, blasted, then slammed into the water. So yeah, he was a little disoriented. Plus the panic of where he was and all that was about to happened made him panic. If that wasn't clear, then you weren't paying attention to the show.

Wait... The Deep's official lore says he can swim at 25-50mph. So why didn't he just... swim to the shore after Starlight threw him? He had a whole head start before the octopus caught him. Did his brain just completely short-circuit the second he hit the water?

Especially since they had no real intentions of merging the two shows other than a minor cameo here and there. Marie could've soloed homelander.
