We need to stop illegal immigration, but this is abhorrent from Reform. Zia is proposing the siting of detention centres expressly as a form of political punishment for people and places that don’t vote Reform - not just Green, but presumably Conservative, Liberal and Labour too. (And what about Reform voters in those constituencies?) It would almost certainly be deemed an abuse of ministerial power for political purposes, and as such would likely be stuck down in court before ever being implemented, wasting millions for the taxpayer without detaining anyone. If it were to go ahead, it would still represent an appalling waste of public money as these sites might well not be in any way suitable for the proposed centres, or near the other infrastructure required. What’s worse is that he is doing all this to provoke outrage and draw attention to Reform a few days out from the local elections. Reform know what they are doing. But this goes beyond a pre-election stunt. It’s declared as a major policy commitment, and should be treated as such. We need a proper plan to leave the ECHR and restore safe border controls, not gimmicks that wouldn’t survive first contact with reality.

Mats Sundin is the only man who truly knows what it takes to win in Toronto. Watching his old interviews, his answers were always flawless. He was a great leader on the ice, and he can be a great leader off the ice, I know it. There’s a lot of hate out there. As for John Chayka, he was just a kid with the Coyotes. He made mistakes. But he impressed people at a very young age, imagine what his potential is now. And guess who idolized Mats Sundin growing up… Connor McDavid. If there’s ever a chance at #97, Sundin is the guy who could make it happen. #Leafsforever

Angel Studios has done some good things but I'm afraid this one gets a hard pass. 1. The director Andy Serkis is an open socialist who hates Trump and conservatives. He's on record that he changed the story to be a critique of *capitalism,* not communism. 2. It stars far left wing fanatics who hate us, like Seth Rogan, and that transgender man lady from Orange is the New Black. 3. Turning Orwell's brilliant and terrifying metaphor into a literal farm, with kid-friendly animated cute animals, is a crime against literature, and children. This movie is going to wreck them, unfortunately. I advise staying out of the blast zone!
The reason I've been very bullish on Harris as the '28 nominee is that though many Democrats are sick of the logic that elevated her in the first place, the fact is the old logic has not been dissolved at all, and in the late 2020s it still rules over and determines how Dem-to-Dem encounters tend to play out. This isn't just true of primaries btw, it's also true of meetings among all-Dem professionals, conversations among all-Dem friends, etc. If there's any competitive element whatsoever, the logic which determines the winner of the competition is...the old logic. There has been no "reckoning," so to speak.
