@ButteredCorn75 @DanielMarmorst3 @CapnKibs The countermeasures are temporary and the fish come back and constantly attack you. The devs actually put out a statement regarding this and that they are gonna work to fix it.

@Kadeiszen @DanielMarmorst3 @CapnKibs ..tell me how do you make a spear in the wild? How do you make a knife from rocks and metal, titanium, batteries with chemicals, nuclear plants with uranium, and solar cells? You dont need advance weaponry to kill a small shark man.

@jzabeth53 @DanielMarmorst3 @CapnKibs You are told very early on that alterra restricts the printing of weapons. The multitool is the closest thing to a weapon the printer can make.

@DanielMarmorst3 @CapnKibs Bro....I never said I wanted a bomb or weapons like a gun in the game. I'm pointing out how people in the game can make thise things with the tools realistically. I just want the knife back and to be able to kill the medium sharks and small fish. Reading comprehension is lost.

Idc if you think it’s realistic if we went off realism we would never be on an underwater planet with giant monsters

@DanielMarmorst3 @CapnKibs You dont need that. Most people with basic knowledge which most of the protagonists should have as engineers etc can put together chemicals for a bomb or firing system. Specially in a world where humanity is so advanced and intelligent.

@Purgatorius_ @CapnKibs Well, alterra only restricts guns, but I'm saying that you can build other stuff you can then take apart and use to build a weapon. I also agree that I dont want guns but we should be able to use some tool to kill the medium size fish at least.

@jzabeth53 @CapnKibs Isn’t there lore stuff about the fabricators having built-in restrictions from Alterra? I also think it’d be a bit lame if the game was just another typical shoot-em-up game, it being mostly based around non-combat mechanics makes it stand out from other survival games.

In Subnautica you have base building and crafting and looting also people just want to be able to kill the fish that won't let you do those things

@Purgatorius_ @CapnKibs Yes that's true but in survival situations humans would use any means to survive and with a 3d printer I can't imagine all the things a human would do to survive a world like that.

@CapnKibs Why make this point against a survival game? The whole appeal of survival stories in remote wilderness is suddenly the might of human civilization becomes irrelevant and it becomes a question of whether the survivor(s) can make it on their own terms against the local environment.

@DanielMarmorst3 @CapnKibs It's just you with a 3d printer that can print mech suits and other components that can be used to create a weapon. In all of human history its shown humans will do just that in survival circumstances.

It is a big deal since you could kill things in Subnautica and that didnt ruin any horror aspect of the game. The game isn't even a horror its survival exploration.

@jzabeth53 @DylanBloyer @Grummz Nobody would be upset because it ISNT AN ISSUE IN THE FIRST PLACE. The fact that you have to grasp at straws is insane, it’s the fact that weapons in Subnautica 2 would ruin the survival horror aspect it’s trying to create.

Subnautica 2 is a pacifist ideology woven into a game. Players have noticed you cannot defend yourself against attacking fish. Not even in self defense. Only passive means are available. This was by design. You can't kill anything because the devs feel it would support gun violence and aspects of colonialism: "Subnautica is one vote towards a world with less guns. A reminder that there is another way forward." "We want people to feel like they're learning to adapt to the world, rather than being a conqueror or dominator." "We aren't a killing game. Go play Sons of the Forest or something if you want to kill." The anti-violence stance got stronger from Subnautica 1 -> 2, which now has a complete "no kill" policy even when the fish can still kill *you*.

@DylanBloyer @Grummz I think its less that you cant kill them and more so the reason why they made the game like that. Those other games made their games like that for the scare factor, not for political or ideological reasons. If they had said nothing no one would be upset.

The only scene that I could see as proof is the Kalifa scene and even that's highlighted as an OOC moment by Nami herself, the rest just doesn't mean anything? Nami has similar scenes with men in a bunch of cases
