How much are people paying for accountants in UK? • 1 limited company • 1 director • bookkeeping (for not many transactions) • receipt/accountancy software • annual tax returns

@SibyAlwyn @iamfra5er I think especially in London we’ve got some decent startups, probably some work to do up north in the UK but we’re getting there

@iamfra5er Literally at a startup here, this is wrong. Not as many as America but it’s not bad

Avoid building startups here - Cultural aversion to ambition - Insane regulation - Talent shortage - Out of control taxes The next generation will build their companies elsewhere!

I just found out that my wife doesn’t know the ctrl+c / ctrl+v shortcuts. She has been right-click pasting things her whole life I’ve failed you all.

Charlie 'Ramen Space’ Ward 🍜 (ramenspace.com)
Update - not the news I was hoping for today. I thought I was getting the main operation this morning, then being discharged in a day or two. Instead, they assessed the swelling/a blister on my leg posed risk of infection if they went ahead as planned - so I had an intermediary operation to help alleviate that. Which means I'm in here for at least a week or two longer than we thought. C'est la vie. Things could be worse though: - I have a great support network keeping me well fed and entertained. - our amazing community at @RamenClubHQ are keeping the co-working space running nicely. - I'm reading enough Stoicism to almost convince myself I'm Marcus Aurelius. Audentes fortuna iuvat. So I'm using the time to catch up on some long delayed reading! On the list: - The Art of Gathering by Priya Patel - Setting the Table by Danny Meyer - Recursion by Blake Crouch Any recommendations for books, reads, indie games, whatever, hit me up!

🚨 trigger warning - broken bones 🚨 Story time... on Monday, in a freak (and slightly funny) accident, I smashed my left leg into pieces. (Seriously). Now I'm no radiographer, but that x-ray looks pretty bad to me. There goes the football career? I had quite a lot of plans (that involve being able to stand/walk) over the next few months, both personally and professionally. Going to weddings/festivals. Running Ramen Space. Moving house. Etc etc. So this feels pretty unfair and untimely. But when is breaking your leg ever fair and timely? And why shouldn't this happen to me? What makes me so special? It is what it is, and on the flipside, I've also seen the best side of humanity over the last few days. From the ambulance crew and nurses/doctors. To my girlfriend/family/friends and everyone else who's shown up for me since Monday. It's hugely appreciated and I won't forget it. The irony of being a 'Ward' in a hospital ward for the first time isn't lost on me, and I'm trying to make the most of the free time. So catching up on reading, a spot of vibe coding (Stoicism Chrome Extension for myself had to be done), this sweet dinosaur colouring book my sister got me, simply appreciating having a solid community around me, and that my health isn't worse than it is. Thank you for reading - I'll be back very soon! 😎

@benstokoe @markszymik @catalinmpit If you’re into React, you’ll like Inertia.js It acts as a bridge between your FE and BE and passes the BE responses as props. Keeps everything in one repo You can generate your TS types from your backend responses as well so your types are always up to date with your backend

@adamwathan Is it not the same for some of your old info products? I can imagine some are a bit outdated but the principles in refactoring to collections and refactoring UI must still be relevant

Being a very successful author has gotta be the best gig on the planet. • No one to manage • No customer support • Nothing to maintain • Many don't get recognized on the street • Writing is fulfilling The "very successful" part is very important and very hard though 🙂

@azath0th It's been in my cart for a while, thought I'd actually spin up the project before adding another domain to the namecheap graveyard this time 😅

I talked to a lot of people at Laracon. Almost everyone said the SAME THING about why they come back (or why they already know they'll be back). So I made a video talking about it (and some of my favorite things announced at Laracon 👀) hint: so many things.

@1stevengrant @DerekAndSusan The hike up there alone is worth it, don’t think I would’ve made it without the air con in the gift shop though. Enjoy!
