@signulll I do my part in creating just the right superpositions of qubits to create something useful at the macroscopic level. You can say, I go to the macroscopic world, engineer things, learn from them, and come back to the world we live in with the learnings that help create new drugs.

most dudes should obsess over their craft. the thing they can make, build, improve, or understand so deeply that it becomes their contribution to the world. roughly everything else is downstream of this.

@kanav_setia Nope. That's just what the emotionally impaired say about us. Just look at our financial outlook. Does that look bearish to you?

I don't know what they are doing over there, but Codex will continue to be available both in the FREE and PLUS ($20) plans. We have the compute and efficient models to support it. For important changes, we will engage with the community well ahead of making them. Transparency and trust are two principles we will not break, even if it means momentarily earning less. A reminder that you vote with your subscription for the values you want to see in this world.

For clarity, we're running a small test on ~2% of new prosumer signups. Existing Pro and Max subscribers aren't affected.

@BenjaminDEKR Just a reminder that this will likely be paid in SpaceX stock, which, though, very promising, will already be likely valued at $1.5-2T. At that point, it is all just monopoly money :D

What exactly is valuable inside Cursor here that justifies $60 Billion? Or is it an acquihire, using Cursor staff to build back the gutted xAI?

@kanav_setia @signulll I have heard this as well. That it’s one of the best for important trace minerals. Just wish it was a little cheaper. I usually stock up on the glass Pellegrino when I see it on sale at Costco

Chicago! Next meetup of the year is on May 9th. We have about 50 spots remaining, really excited to see everyone there. We’ve done NYC and LA this year, both times the market was in a different spot but the energy at the meetups is always rooted in people just wanting to have a community that they can discuss the markets with. Looking forward to seeing folks there, as always these tickets include no margin and are charged to cover the cost of venue/food/security. Hope to see people there in Chicago! Tickets below ⬇️

@alojoh @theallinpod @elonmusk Have you gone anti-Elon or is your approach more nuanced? Like “support Elon and his long term vision, but also call him out on his bs to keep him in check”

Travis Kalanick: “AGI is not here yet, and it's silly for folks to say it is.” “When it comes to big companies, I think the big thing about, let's call it the autonomous enterprise, is change management. And change management is about all the people that already work there, the middle managers, the technocrats, the bureaucrats. The change management is a human thing. And it's very tricky with very complex processes, many of which are not even documented. And in theory, it's just all going to happen real fast. But in practice, that's hard. So that's part one. Part two, what I'm seeing with true tech companies, they are fired up about the development, the productivity, the deployment schedule, and the new features they're able to roll out much, much, much faster because they've pivoted their culture, sort of very pro-AI development. Now, there are folks selling their book that are like, ‘Oh, we're at AGI,’ and all this. Anybody who has worked with these agents and done the AI dev stuff, there's a lot of good stuff, but they're not that smart yet. They're just not that smart.”

“Socialism sucks. It is terrible.” - Max Levchin How we got here: After interviewing Roblox CEO @DavidBaszucki on creating an entirely new digital economy, I asked Max Levchin how he’d construct one His answer: without failure, they all converge to the same thing.. capitalism. @mlevchin: “Capitalism works exceedingly well, especially when competition is encouraged & allowed to flourish.” “I’m a huge fan of @Roblox.. I spent a fair amount of time before Affirm studying these closed system economies.. Second Life is a canonical example of an economy built whole cloth from nothing.” “If you look at the success arcs of these systems over time, they resemble US economy more & more.” “We’ve had thousands of years to evolve a fairly good economic model… US is most certainly one A in the right way to do it.” “I don’t know if it’s obvious how you’d improve on that.”
sourcery@sourceryy

.@mlevchin: "Socialism sucks." "Take it from somebody who spent his first 16 years under the 'warm embrace of collectivism' as a certain mayor recently put it—socialism sucks." "The only people who do well in redistribution of wealth are the ones doing redistribution." "It's fundamentally corrupt. There's not enough bad things I can say about socialism."
