For spring break my 16 year old is camping in the mountains with his friends. Some of the family are acting like I basically fed him to a bear. Fellow parents, would you let your generally very responsible and capable kid camp without adults?

The "leave no man behind" doctrine is actually a strategic weakness disguised as a virtue. Name one other military on earth that destroys 6 aircraft and fights a ground battle inside a sovereign nation to recover one pilot. You can't. Because no other military confuses tactical sentimentality with strategic logic. Soldiers serve the mission. The mission doesn't serve the soldier. The US has now established that Iran can shoot down an F-15, then watch America spend $300M and expose Delta Force trying to prove it didn't happen. That's not military doctrine. That's politics with weapons. A military that cannot accept the risk of loss cannot win wars. The US hasn't won one since 1945.

Lose all this to rescue 1 pilot and call it your greatest military success of all time.

ICE was checking IDs at the Atlanta airport today. The.guy said "your DL photo is super light, so facial recognition might not work." I snapped back "that's so you know not to illegally deport me." His buddy said "we can find a reason" and NOTHING could be more on-brand for an encounter with ICE.

@tufpraise Sorry most of us don’t want to dwell on something that just became important to you. I’ve been told to hate for years, but I won’t. It hurts me not the people I’m told to hate. Do it for yourself. God bless.

@ExpressTN @SeanTrende Kids flying by themselves was not horrifying back then. Why? Because strangers were more trustworthy.

Dropped my son off for an unaccompanied minor flight and they give you a gate pass so parents can take them to the gate. You have to sit and wait until the plane takes off. Nostalgic, because this is how it always was for flights until 9/11. You always sat and saw family off.

@ExpressTN @SeanTrende My brother and I flew as unaccompanied minors many times. We were escorted by a member of the crew to our seats and regularly checked on. Escorted off to baggage claim where an airport staff member assisted and then led us to an awaiting family member.

@SeanTrende Not safe to send a minor off by themselves. Ask a pilot for stories. Fly with them.

the MacBook Neo should be a giant wake up call for Microsoft to improve Windows 11. Apple’s MacBooks have always largely been premium devices, but the $599 Neo is firmly in the core part of the Windows OEM market. This is a red alert for Microsoft, Lenovo, Dell, HP, and others

@tomwarren It’s too late for all of them. When Apple is coming to a new market, they’re coming with one goal: be the best and take over. Apple is coming prepared, experienced, uncompromising and showing them all what Apple is really good at. Say your goodbyes to windows world.

You not liking him doesn’t equal him having a breakdown. Praying for discernment for you to start to understand and appreciate those you have disagreements with, without defaulting to thinking those that do are either evil, psychologically broken or beneath you. God be with you my friend.
