Consider: the Sursock Purchases, the biggest Jewish land acquisition in Ottoman Palestine
In the 1870s, the Lebanese Greek Orthodox Sursock family purchased land in what is today northern Israel from the Ottoman Empire, thus becoming "absentee landlords"
Eventually, the family — many of whom had relocated to Paris — turned around and sold that very same land to Jewish buyers
Those Arab peasants who lived and worked on the land were provided compensation for their "losses" and were forced to relocate elsewhere. Many of them ended up on the outskirts of Jaffa and Haifa, boosting the Arab populations of those cities — a significant demographic shift
This was not "theft"
This was a real estate transaction between the Ottomans, the Sursock family, and Jewish land purchasers

This world deserves the terrifying end that’s coming its way. We’ve been warning about this but the west thinks they’re untouchable. They think just because it’s over there, it doesn’t really matter because it’s not really real because are these women even really feeling anything at all? Six groomers jailed for 50 years for horrendous abuse of a girl.
They are not groomers they are child rapists and abusers, should be life for all of them but frankly even that is too kind.
Mohammed Shehban, 42, received 14 years for two counts of rape.
Amazar Ali, 54, was given 10 years for two counts of sexual activity with a child.
Adal Manaf, 48, got eight years for rape.
Imran Hussain, 50, received seven years for attempted rape.
Naveed Anjum, 50, got five-and-a-half years for sexual activity with a child.
That is a total of 49 years in prison. All six men will have to register as sex offenders for life, and will be subject to an indefinite restraining order.
All six were found guilty on March 13 this year by a jury following a trial that heard how the victim was groomed, targeted, plied with drink, given drugs, and sometimes taken to remote locations across West Yorkshire to be abused.
The offending took place in and around Halifax between 2006 and 2009 when the girl was between 13 and 15 years old and the men were aged between 22 and 37. In many of the incidents the victim was under the influence of alcohol or drugs given to her by her attackers.
Jailing the group on Friday, at Bradford Crown Court, Her Honour Judge Sophie McKone said: “Each and every one of you groomed a vulnerable victim.”
In a harrowing statement read to the court on her behalf, the men’s victim said their offending had been “a violation” that had left lifelong scars and caused her to experience bad dreams, severe anxiety and PTSD as well as feelings of shame, guilt, and self-blame.
She said: “I’m trying to heal, but the harm done to me was deep.”

Everyone that tells you that antisemitism is caused by Israel's actions is telling you something absurd. Turkey has been far more brutal in its expansion, its oppression of Kurds, Greeks, and Armenians, and has a far greater connection to "Western imperialism." It was the premier site for NATO ballistic and nuclear missiles during the Cold War! Erdoğan is an authoritarian tyrant, and the country has an explicit history past as an empire, the Ottoman one.
Yet, nobody harasses diaspora Turks by parading the Kurdish flag outside their neighborhood or accuses their children walking to school of genocide. Nobody organizes boycotts of Turkish goods or follows around stars of Turkish descent, like D'Arcy Carden, to accuse anyone watching her shows of supporting apartheid. Nobody turns up their lips and sneers at those that decorate their homes with Turkish lamps or cook Turkish food, or deny that Turkish cuisine even exists. A fez is just a fez, it does not paint a target on you like a kippah.
Antizionism is racist antisemitism. It is not concern for Israel's actions, and never has been.
