Right now, 185,000 boxes of therapeutic food aid to save starving children are sitting in an @EdesiaNutrition warehouse in Rhode Island. @SecRubio is the only thing standing in the way. Platitudes won’t cut it. We need real commitments with real action. It’s time for his State Department to get its stuff together and get this aid to the kids who need it.

Last night, my Grandmother; Beverly Anderson Stanford, peacefully passed around 7:30pm - after 87 years of having a front-row seat to pure excitement, which included 62 years with the king trouble-maker, who she married & partnered with to create such a dynamic life adventure; none other than her beloved husband, Edward L. Stanford, my Grandpa; who passed in 2016. The daughter of Fredrick Anderson (1984) & his wife Sarah (Barber) (1993), Beverly was the big sister to Joan; and her husband Allen Stanford, and Linda; and her husband Edgar Fortin. She was also ‘Auntie Beverly’ to Scott & Doreen (Joan), and Sarah & Heather (Linda). Grandma was the sister-in-law to Eddie’s 8 siblings, their spouses, and Auntie to the many, many children. Now how could life not be exciting with Big Ed and his big personality and non-stop energy? Together they had 4 children; Kenneth (& Jacki Clark), Lori-Ann (& Robert Gauthier), Darlene (& Thomas DeCastro) and Bruce (&Gina Preziuso). Just your average Pawtucket family who lived a far beyond average life! Next you add in 12 Grandchildren (6 of whom born on October 18th, 5 at the same time)… Benjamin (& Susan), Timothy (& Abbey), Lisa (& Brandon) , Jeremy (& Ashley), Stephen (& Liary), Laura (& Richard), Michael (2014), Christina, Brianna, Caitlyn (&Levi), Jordan, and Stephanie (1999). BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE; If you thought being a grandchild was cool; try being one of the 16 Great-Grand Children! None of the above happens without an incredibly strong & faithful woman who fiercely loved God, Her Husband and Her Family. A woman who in her late 30’s almost lost her husband and while still raising her younger children also spent months getting Grandpa back to full health & strength. The words ‘Steadfast, Devoted, Faithful, and Loyal’ just doesn’t seem to fully encapsulate the type of person my Grandmother was. She was our biggest supporter… our biggest fan. My Grandma was one of a kind and leaves behind an incredible legacy to prove it. Make no mistake; everyone who knew her & loved her… WE are the lucky ones.

In Rome years back, #PopeFrancis--handed me a rosary I still pray with. Leave it to #BobDylan to nail why I wept like a child when I met him. “[He] was a voice of mercy in a time of noise. He walked with humility, spoke with fire, and dared to love the unloved. He reminded the world that compassion isn’t weakness, and faith doesn’t have to shout to be heard. May he rest in the eternal peace he so often preached.”
