Why does tech seem to burn people out so quickly despite most jobs being objectively extremely cushy

Anyone have thoughts on leaving a job ethically? I’ve gotten so much weird unsolicited advice (“you don’t need to worry about that now”) - Meanwhile I’m going for the campsite rule of ‘leave it better than you found it’. Am I alone here?

I find it really weird on here how sometimes if you ask a direct question, almost nobody replies, but if you throw out some dumb opinion, you’ll get hundreds of replies

@kaz_hew @Minette_78 It's an interesting discussion. Like you, I never wanted to manage/be a leader and just write great copy but the longer I work in the field, the more I think I might need to take the leadership path to actually improve the discipline and help UX Writers more.

When I started working in tech years ago, it was considered THE industry to be in. Everyone was in on working their asses off. It was an era of 'sleep is overrated' and 'if you want to work out, get up at 5AM'. I was younger then and tried to keep up for a while.
