Not only did they play bad defenses but the only remotely good QB’s they played were Allen (2x), Lamar, and Mayfield. You can’t be honest with yourself and think that wasn’t a major impact

To add to this- people dramatically overestimate variation in defensive quality faced for entire season. Difference between hardest schedule (Ward) versus easiest (Hurts) works out to about ~0.03 EPA/play. Difference between Maye and Stafford opposing schedule 0.0008 EPA/play

The team around him was incredible? He had a mid OL, 31 year old Diggs coming off an ACL tear, and a bunch of guys you’ve never heard of.
He led the ENTIRE NFL (not just Stafford) in basically everything except TDs

@BenStandig @BenjaminSolak He was barely above average in almost every rate passing stat. I don’t see how you can be so sure Jayden Daniels was the only reason WAS improved when the entire coaching staff was new as well. Especially considering he was just plain bad the year after that.

@loggerslol I think he should too, guess it comes down to him vs. Tre for the 2 spot. Could be better to have Tre be more in a 6th man role and have a better defender in the backcourt with Trae at the start
