@DurvidImel I probably wouldn't describe it as "switch to the iPad version." For modern swiftui and compose you use responsive primitives like NavigationSplitView to smoothly scale up/down. It's probably still the same app that is just correctly responsive now

I have a theory that Instagram finally made a proper iPad app because the iPhone Fold/Ultra is going to switch to the iPad version when you open it and Apple requested consistency in experience.

Just another reminder -- yes im aware proton 11 is out. yes I know GE-Proton is overdue for an update. yes, the reason it hasn't gotten one is because I'm still working on the video playback rework. I've got a TON of games with broken video playback working. It'll be worth it.

@zeddotdev Not really one, but complete kotlin support. The kotlin lsp isn't really good yet so it's almost more harm than good. I'm sure it'll get better with time.

@Dimillian Pretty much every prompt. Tbh it's the main thing keeping me from using claude because claude's @ is super broken and codex's still works

Let’s be honest here, how many time this week have you directly @ a code file to your agent?

@Dimillian My #1 pain point right now with codex is that I want to login with my subscription and then use my API key once the limits are hit. I don't pay for either so it's not about the cost directly but it's very inconvenient that I have to switch manually

@felixrieseberg Will it let me reference deeply nested files now? About 6 folders deep the existing desktop app stops finding files so I have to use the terminal app

Today is a big day! We're launching a ~ new ~ version of Claude Code in the desktop app. It's been redesigned from the ground up for parallel work and is a lot faster. It's been my main way to use Claude Code for the last few weeks.

@thdxr @d4m1n @bcantrill has talked a few times about how early AWS was happy to perpetuate the myth that it was a race to the bottom. I can't help but feel like token inference is the same way. Anthropic is probably totally fine with people thinking they lose money on each user

@d4m1n i'm a bit confused why so many people say api tokens are sold at a loss this isn't true - these models are incredibly expensive compared to the gpu time cost there's potential for 90% margin depending on the model

$20,000 to scan one codebase that's what anthropic says it cost Mythos to find those zero days. per repo. except API tokens are currently sold at a LOSS. That "$20,000 scan" probably cost closer to $100,000+ in real gpu time ffmpeg couldn't afford the subsidized price let alone the real one... if the cost doesn't come down by a huge factor this just doesn't make sense. It's Anthropic's marketing week 💀

@ryanflorence @FurkanGozukara It's so funny to me how in the abstract everyone is like "yeah of course God doesn't need my money" but then is surprised pikachu when it turns out to be true. Tithing is about me not the church

@FurkanGozukara Church only gets 7B/yr in tithing with 350B in assets. Clearly it doesn't need our money Nobody demands it. We do it willingly, to prove the Lord: Malachi 3:10 I have paid millions in tithing and can testify the Lord has poured out blessings I didn't have room to receive

Absolute insanity. An expert filmmaker exposes how the Mormon Church is hoarding a staggering 350 billion dollars and buying up massive amounts of American land while still demanding money from its followers. The religious corporate greed is terrifying.

@rtfeldman I'm curious, do you think Zed has had an uptick? From what I understand the disconnect mostly stems from Jevon's paradox and most of the productivity gains are going towards increasingly lower priority items so the high level mission velocity is not affected

In the past 3 years, I haven't noticed any uptick in release speed for software I use. If productivity is increasing, I can't tell as an end user. I have noticed decreases in uptime, increases in bugs, and a HUGE increase in people bragging about how many PRs per day they land.

@ipla03 @callstackio @grabbou From what I understand Activity will still render just at a much lower priority so it doesn't block renders for "active" components. Freeze doesn't render at all so if you return to that component and unfreeze you'll now have to render to "catch up"

We explored using `<Activity mode="hidden">` in React Navigation 8. The problem: it hides the UI entirely, which breaks swipe-back gestures. Here’s a workaround that keeps screens visible while still unmounting effects. Read the article ⬇️ Link in the comments!

@betomoedano Most of the ones we had problems with we don't use anymore and replaced with in-house solutions because we got tired of the color issues, but gradients, victory charts, component libraries like react-native-paper all had problems
