A quick update on my son-in-law, Dan. For those who don’t know the backstory, he was paralyzed from the chest down when a schizophrenic man attacked him and my daughter while they were having dinner at a restaurant last February. A few days ago, one of their cats jumped into Dan’s lap, accidentally scratching Dan’s knee along the way. Dan said, “hey, I felt that!” Little miracles have been happening along the way, and I attribute it 100% to the prayers you have all said for him. May God grant you all a happy, safe, and beautiful Easter with friends and family.

@M_Lawlor1 @sarobertsonca Going heavily over budget, with terrible density and sparsity economics, and not even full HSR speed. Grade A price tag and 50 year tax subsidy (money loser) for a Grade B vision.

@sarobertsonca The problem is that there’s a better chance at winning a million dollars two times in a row at a Vegas table than this project NOT going heavily over budget, at a time when Canadians can’t afford to pay more in costs of living.

Tom Mulcair on Pierre Poilievre's opposition to Alto high-speed rail: "Maybe he thinks he's going to get some votes out of this. But I've rarely seen... that it pays off to be against a big infrastructure project, especially one that Canadians have been clamouring for not just decades, generations."

Last week, my husband sat down with @StevenBartlett from the Diary of a CEO. The behind the scenes on how we got such short notice to do his podcast was insane. Finding flights and trying to cram everything into a short period of time. We were on route to wrap up Pierre's USA tour when we got the email, we were in NYC. So now we had to figure out how to get to LA fast, and back on time for Monday's meetings in Ottawa. There was no way we were going to pass on this. Why? My personal thoughts were because I have watched Diary of a CEO for over a year, and what I have seen from Steven and his team is beyond anything else out there. The level of research they do on their guests, and their capacity to ask ANY question, the tough ones, the more personal ones, in such a professional manner. It is not about trying to get a “gotcha” moment. It is about truly getting to know and understand the person sitting across from Steven. This time, it was my husband. I saw him like in no other interview. Finally relaxed, being himself, so open to talk about everything, including his childhood, his adoptive parents AND biological parents. But also about our beloved Valentina. I can say with confidence that this is THE MOST IN-DEPTH interview Pierre has ever done. Steven did not hold back. But he does it with respect, and in a format that allows people to fully explain themselves. That is the magic of these long-format platforms. Pierre got to share his vision for Canada, the problems, the solutions. He also got to explain his WHY, which really is rooted in his childhood experiences. I am thankful for platforms like this that, in my personal opinion, are doing a better job than the current media out there. But even more thankful that there are hosts like Steven who operate on the principle of hearing all sides with an open mind and allowing people to express themselves. If I can be honest with you, my favourite YouTube channel is not Diary of a CEO. It actually is BEHIND THE DIARY (@behindthediary). That is where you get to see how Steven does it, how he builds a team. One thing I remember well is when he mentioned that he needs to work with people who keep an open mind because his goal is to talk to everyone. From Michelle Obama to Boris Johnson to Kamala Harris, and now my husband Pierre Poilievre, Steven sits there with an open mind and asks ALL questions without holding back. It is also important to note that it is equally important for the guest to do the same. So naturally, our team had no limitations on what he could ask. This is by far my favourite interview. 🫶🏻 Go watch it : youtube.com/watch?v=9JxaES…

@MPelletierCIO Defence is literally a core function of the federal government. If there's so much fat on the bone of the budget that we can't even service our own defence - time for a budgetary diet plan.

@TWilsonOttawa That's truly disheartening. Have RCMP officers ever been asked to testify on these impacts to the committees?

...I spoke to a long serving, senior RCMP officer this morning. He told me this gun grab and the decades of wasted resources and efforts fighting legal gun owners has cost Canadian lives. From back in the Allen Rock days forward, people have died due to rerouting officers away from public safety work and onto carrying out Liberal gun control measures.

Some personal news to share. My regular column with La Presse has been suspended indefinitely this week, after 25 years and more than 1,000 columns. This was not my decision. The decision is linked to recent public comments I made on social media regarding the evolving media landscape in Canada, including reflections on government support for media and its potential implications. I understand that these are sensitive and complex issues, and my remarks may not have aligned with the publication’s perspective. While I am disappointed, I fully respect their decision and remain grateful for the opportunity I’ve had to contribute over the years. I would also like to note that my contributions were always made on a voluntary basis. I was never compensated for my columns, and have personally supported La Presse through a paid subscription throughout that time. It has truly been a privilege to write for such an important institution. I continue to believe that open, thoughtful discussions about the future of media in Canada are both necessary and healthy.

90B estimated in Canada means 270B out the door. 40-50 years of non-profitability at a minimum. Not sure why everyone wants to keep comparing to Europe/G7 (I need my toy train too). Density and sparsity are completely different + terrain, regulatory environment and climate. We don't see any other infrastructure projects that would benefit Canada more widely and with a better ROI in a faster window?

tl;dr 🇨🇦’s high speed rail. LPC, NDP: We need high-speed rail for Montreal to Toronto! Europe has them! CPC: No high-speed rail! Me: Why is the contract 2x what Europe pays? Why was the pre-qualification period so short? This is TrainCan.

Something people aren't thinking about. $90 billion being spent on a high-speed rail system in two provinces with heavy snowfall. What would the effects be of a train hitting a snow bank at 200 km an hour?

@cbcwatcher @yfblanchet Either way there would be cost overruns on the original budget but doing it the way the Bloc wants it guarantees even bigger cost overruns. I'm not saying the Bloc is wrong. I'm saying this whole project stinks to high heaven.

Blanchet on the high speed rail "But we have some conditions about the way it has to be done. It has to be done properly with the right information, the right analysis for this project and not a bulldozer going over usual laws" @yfblanchet
Beautifulcanada1@BeautifulCana1

Bloc leader Yves-François Blanchet says, though they were initial advocates for high speed rail, they do not support how the Carney Liberals are attempting to implement it but overriding jurisdictions and with massive land acquisition.

Hey bud. I am not going to say that I completely understand how you feel BUT When my brother got AML, my parents made a lot of choices before he got sick and after he got sick that made me wonder something very similar (this was way before COVID). For many years after his death, I had those thoughts. In this specific case here's my 2 cents. Having been close to cancer a lot, there' almost no chance that the vax was what caused a advanced stage cancer in 2 weeks. (Like I said, I've been around late stage enough, the signs are actually a lot earlier than you think and mask as something else - think flu, tiredness etc.). I understand you are upset. You, your mother and your brother are in my thoughts. Just remember, in the end, your brother would have never wanted to lose your mom either. It's what a brought myself back to when I realized - why would my mother and father ever want to make any decision that could cause them to lose one of their sons? I don't know if this helps or not - feel free to rage back if needed. I'm sorry this happened.

I recently found out that my brother got my mom to take 2 vaxx doses and didn't tell me. Now I am wondering if that had anything to do with her death. One min she is fine. 2 weeks later cancer so bad it cant be stopped. I'm upset about it. Wondering if Chris was vaxxed too now.
