That is unreal business for Newcastle United btw if they pull it off - Anthony Gordon out of the Premier League ✅ - £75m+ which is almost double what the club paid for him ✅ - Sold ahead of the World Cup to prevent any potential injury problems ✅ #NUFC
Ben Jacobs@JacobsBen

Broad terms now in place between Anthony Gordon and Bayern Munich. However, there remains a gulf in valuation between Bayern and Newcastle with club-to-club talks ongoing. #NUFC seeking £75m+. There is optimism the club’s valuation will be met given the volume of initial interest.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 🤝 @alex_crook

@AdamP1242 Season is only done if #NUFC Manager, Players, and Fans accept that it is! We're currently 6points behind 6th place with 1 game in hand, and 5 in total to play. European spot is still "possible"

Arsenal (a) Season is done for Newcastle United already but can we potentially ruin Arsenal’s title challenge ? Eddie Howe will be here next season but some of those players won’t be, time to see who is prepared to put the effort in 👀⚫️⚪️ #NUFC

@Andaaii @NUFCcook @Im_RobM @LukeEdwardsTele Whole host of things have gotten us to this point, 2nd most games played of any club in the league, small squad, aging squad, not having cover at LB. Isak debacle and panic signing late. Thinking we can beat teams who can pay more than us on wages for transfers. Club has failed

@kev1664 @NUFCcook @Im_RobM @LukeEdwardsTele They are no more than warning signs as long as you weather the storm, get results, and improve performance afterward. We haven't done either, and that's continued into this season with the trend getting worse. It's not impossible, but it's hard to see a way back as things stand.

For those asking why I back Howe. Two champions league qualifications in four years having inherited a team destined for relegation. Won the club’s first domestic trophy for 70 years despite the club’s failure to sign a player to improve the first team since Tonali in 2023 because of PSR. Forced to sell Anderson and Minteh for PSR. Was left last summer without a sporting director and a CEO. lost isak on deadline day - the team’s top goalscorer and most important player - and missed out on Trafford, Ekitike, Pedro and Sesko as they went elsewhere for money and to club’s with more aura in London and Manchester. Yeah he’s made mistakes, but if you look at everything he has achieved I’d back him over anyone else to lead the rebuild as a manager with a proper recruitment structure in place #nufc
Luke Edwards@LukeEdwardsTele

Eddie Howe remains the best manager for Newcastle United and deserves the chance to rebuild the squad in the summer with a proper support structure in place. If he leaves in the summer, I believe the club will regret it. Probably swiftly and for a long time. This is my opinion. I have covered the club for 23 years. I watch them pretty much every week and nothing that happens between now and the end of May will change my mind. It’s fine to disagree. I’ve seen a few comments about where I’m from recently and the fact I’m not a fan. Like that prevents me from having an opinion on a club it is my job to cover and has been for more than two decades. This is my professional opinion as a football journalist. Lots of you will disagree with it. But I also know many of you agree with me because I speak to people all the time and don’t spend my entire day on here. Opinions vary, that’s absolutely fine #nufc

@Andaaii @NUFCcook @Im_RobM @LukeEdwardsTele Battered of 10 man Chelsea? The had 6 shots in our box we had 14/15 in theirs. Brentford was a tight match, you get those in the league, especially this season. We also had two 3-0 a 5-0 and a 4-1. Like I say this season in the league has been diabolical.

@kev1664 @NUFCcook @Im_RobM @LukeEdwardsTele Performances off a cliff. Battered by 10-man Chelsea and honking against Brentford, but scraped wins (more wonder goals from nowhere). The tide was turning & the remaining results proved that. That's not rewriting history. It was there for everybody to see, which they did.

@Andaaii @NUFCcook @Im_RobM @LukeEdwardsTele I can agree we haven't been great in the league this season, but the rewriting of after the cup final form last season is mad, we were shite the last 2 games and nearly fucked it up, but up until then is what got us in the champions league.

This whole Isak saga would finish if Liverpool just payed the £150m we're asking, it ain't that hard to understand... They get the player they've been obsessing over and we get the money WE want for OUR player, everyone's happy, do the right thing @LFC !

@kev1664 @espenstrand Again not true. The clubs didn’t vote for UEFA FFP. Also more clubs not in the big 6 voted for PSR in 12/13.

@kev1664 @espenstrand If you are confusing FFP (UEFA’s) with what would become PSR in 14/15 (voted in by the clubs in 12/13). Was to cover clubs that fell outside the UEFA rules. Even the EFL started their own version before the PL did.

@kev1664 @espenstrand Not true. UEFA saw clubs especially those in Serie A were generating huge losses. And also they had to protect fan ran clubs from Roman. They started work on FFP in 2006. Working with the EU to make sure it obeyed EU Law before it went to a vote in 2009.

@Jaycen_solo @espenstrand Roman Abramovich was a billionaire, Walker a millionaire, FFP led to this point, the clubs with the most money didn't like it so served their own interests and pulled up the drawbridge, big clubs were fine with the millionaires.

@kev1664 @espenstrand Don’t you mean Jack Walker the Blackburn owner. And we did have that after him with Roman. Who took it way too far so UEFA had to step in.

@kev1664 @espenstrand I don’t think you understand. No clubs voted for UEFA FFP. Only National FAs voted. The PL got 1 vote via the English FA. The vote passed with 51 yes votes out of 51.

@kev1664 @espenstrand Again the UEFA foreign player ban came to an end in 1995 which opened up the movement of players more easily. The EU wanted to regulate it more so Fifa compromised by having the two transfer windows.

@Jaycen_solo @espenstrand I didn't say spurs did, I said the big clubs at the time did, Spurs were fortunate it was that point in history that it happened, thats when commercial revenue became a thing, since then inflation has went through the roof making it impossible for a Jack Warner type

@kev1664 @espenstrand Except you claimed they drew up the drawbridge. When they didn’t start to qualify more consistently until FFP started.

@kev1664 @espenstrand Not true. They added the January window mainly due to the CL second group stage. And by request of the newly formed EU.

@Jaycen_solo @espenstrand Football was intended for no windows until the clubs with all the money kept on buying the best mid season to continue their commercial dominance. Still even at 2 windows it makes more sense to be in the same season, instead of separate seasons.

@kev1664 @espenstrand Football was only intended for 2 transfer windows. It was only clubs moving their end of FY so they could fix mistake opened it up to 3. All clubs had end of FY on May 31st. Now only 3 clubs do. The rest moved them. And under FSR UEFA can’t force an end of FY date.

@Jaycen_solo @espenstrand But were the 4/5th sure thing in the most lucrative league in the world being shown everywhere, companies had them as a sure thing for exposure. It's timing.

@kev1664 @espenstrand The UEFA Cup / EL made hardly any money back then. Companies wanted CL football. And that is most successful only on league position. They had zero success on the pitch until last season.

@kev1664 @espenstrand So you are even further behind. That doesn’t make sense. And actually hurts clubs more. So for SCR 2026 the cap was set from FY25 which was submitted to UEFA in September 2025.
