Had a great time giving a guest lecture to a room full of ETH students.
• Robert Jakob (@robertjakob) shared insights into the rise of agentic AI startups at ETH, the history and future of LLMs and agentic AI, the core building blocks of agentic AI systems, the broader agentic AI landscape, and practical tools to get started.
• Kevin O'Sullivan (@kev_osull) presented on AI transformation in industry, drawing on real-world examples such as Johnson & Johnson and highlighting emerging best practices. He also explored how Agentic AI can accelerate R&D cycles, shorten time-to-market, and advance the growing shift toward open-source software.

We’re expanding our in-house infrastructure with 𝘕𝘝𝘐𝘋𝘐𝘈 𝘉𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘬𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘭 𝘎𝘗𝘜𝘴, enabling us to run and fine-tune open LLMs locally and to train next-generation 𝘛𝘪𝘮𝘦-𝘚𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘓𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘶𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘔𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘭𝘴 (𝘛𝘚𝘓𝘔𝘴) .

As a side-project, I patched & fine-tuned the live music model MagentaRT from @GoogleMagenta to add different reverb levels and low-pass filter on the drum stems without any ultra-fast-signal-processing.

⚡️New Partnership with Studyflash | 📄 New AI Research Preprint.
Studyflash, founded by ETH & HSG students Nikola Bulatovic, Dominik Gebhard, and Rajiv Manichand, has redefined learning for over 500,000 students by offering hyper-personalized and scientifically optimized AI-generated study materials. Now, with a strong push into agentic systems, they are evolving into the Cursor for learning, empowering anyone, anywhere to learn more effectively. Fully bootstrapped to a 10-person team and named one of Europe’s hottest university spinouts by @Siftedeu, they are proving that impactful AI applications can be built without external funding.
📌 A story worth highlighting:
Alongside building Studyflash, Rajiv Manichand (@frederik_rajiv) pursued his master thesis at our chair, developing a state-of-the-art computer vision model for BMI estimation from camera images and co-authoring a paper with our lab members Patrick Langer, Robin Deuber, Robert Jakob, and Elgar Fleisch.

Rajiv showed us what this generation of students is capable of: building a startup, completing studies, and publishing research, all at one. Rajiv's journey directly inspired our lab's student tracks:
👨🍳 Startup Track → write your thesis about and validate your own Agentic AI startup idea (instead of tackling two major challenges separately).
👩🚀 Explorer Track → gain hands-on startup experience by joining teams like Studyflash (Rajiv collaborated with the startup WayBetter who provided data for his thesis).
👩🔬 Lab Track → contribute to internal research projects, e.g. AI-driven oral student examinations — where we also aim to learn from Studyflash’s experience.
We’re excited to work with Nikola, Dominik, and Rajiv on shaping the future of AI in education — and to support students whether they join Studyflash (@yourstudyflash), our internal lab projects, or conduct research related to their own Agentic AI idea.
