The problem with the red button/blue button thing is that blue button people still live with this filter over their eyes that distorts reality.
They lack the self-awareness to realize that if they were actually in that situation in real life, they’d push the red button too. That’s exactly why they get so mad and take it personally when we don’t see it their way. They call us immoral and evil.
But we see the world realistically. They don’t. When you factor in the other 8 billion people on Earth and the raw fear of possibly dying, there’s zero chance 51% hit the blue button. 95–98% of people would take the guaranteed safe option and choose red.
We know this because we deal in reality, not fantasy. For us red-button people, pushing blue is suicide.
Is it sad that out of 8 billion some will inevitably hit blue and die? Yes. But if blue is suicide, I’m still hitting red.
The vast majority of blue button people lack the self-awareness to know how they’d actually react under pressure.
They’re the morons who die first in horror movies.

Everyone on earth takes a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. Which button would you press? BE HONEST.
English

@teameffujoe people will press the blue button.. being really dumb, and knowing that some people are pressing the blue button and being willing to "let 'em die" simply because they aren't "smart" enough to get the question is morally questionable.

A hiker fell 180 feet from a New Zealand waterfall. Rescuers saved her life but had to leave her loyal Border Collie, Molly, behind.
Strangers stepped up, raised thousands of dollars, and a helicopter flew in to bring Molly home safely!
True kindness and loyalty win again. 💪🐶🙌
Humanity at its proudest! ❤️

@RonKetchum @erik_thorvalds People see what they want to see. I think there are more people who see a community of mutual support and protection from external threats. There is a lot of to be done to address legitimate grievances, but it's clear that Canadians are stronger together.
English

@kevinperrott @erik_thorvalds Most people that built this country are old or dead, and most of the deciding class will be someone that never grow up here or doesn't serve this country. Canada will only drop down on all the qualities that built this country. We are divided and set up to fall. Alberta sees it
English

Friendly reminder that Canada has an expiry date, and it’s coming fast.
A country as diverse as this can never stay united; it’s impossible.
🇨🇦 is a legacy British Empire trade zone with multiple nations under its control.
They will go their own way as the regime crumbles.
Alberta will take over most of the former Northwest Territories.
Québec will gladly walk away.
Vancouver will choose the Singapore option instead of joining Alberta or staying an exclave of Canada.
And Newfoundland, realizing that they are Ottawa’s new colonial oil cash cow will become their own nation again.
A rump Canada of Ontario, Manitoba and a Maritimes separated from the rest will remain.
And that likely won’t last either.
O Canada!

@quartz_project @erik_thorvalds born and raised and live in Alberta. Our family history goes back to the earliest pioneers from England and France. They migrated to Alberta in the mid-1800's and our family has been farmers for over a century. I think I understand Alberta.

@MikeRosoft18 @erik_thorvalds I do think that everyone values their family and other loved-ones. They all want to protect their children and and provide a good life for them. There's a lot of bedrock to start with and for where their are problems there are solutions for those who want to find them.
English

@kevinperrott @erik_thorvalds You're saying that as if the growing population shares Canadian values, they don't and that an issue that we should all be able to talk about as Canadians.
English

@BigWave372 Choose your future. We could have a health care system able to create custom solutions, at home, before they become life-threatening. This is possible, but it will take longer if people don't work together. Get engaged. The world is going to change. Maybe for the better.

@kevinperrott @hackagibson @sarobertsonca In,Canada. Our courts ruled the sex offender registry unconstitutional, reduced the sentence of a man who strangled his toddler, because of his race.Sex traffickers given reduced sentencing so it doesnt affect their immigration status. We have no moral authority.

I don't think the result would actually have him release the files, the information in them is probably far too damning for that to happen, but highlighting the topic during negotiations may not be a bad idea from a tactical perspective as concluding the negotiations would lower its visibility. I do respect your reasoned position and your civil tone. Rare on X.
English

nobody said child exploitation is a distraction. stop twisting my words. the Epstein files matter but we already know trump is on that list. we've known for years. so what good does that do canada right now?
do you really think waving the epstein files is going to bring trump to the negotiating table? seriously? "show us the epstein files or no booze"? you think that man (impeached twice, indicted four times) is going to fold because canada asks nicely for documents he's already fought to keep hidden?
use trade policy to protect children? noble idea. completely unrealistic. trump doesn't negotiate out of moral obligation. he negotiates out of leverage. and we don't have the leverage to make him release anything.
we can do both. but let's not kid ourselves about what actually works.
English

Is a child's exploitation a "distraction"? This is the cancer of a sick society, that looks the other way when innocent children become fodder for the powerful. Horrifying and disgusting to pretend otherwise. Bring it up. Root it out. Expose every last crack to the light. Use trade policy for something basic and fundamental as protecting children and getting justice. That is what honorable people with character do. Nice to see some people in Canadian Leadership aren't afraid to call it for what it is.
English

we don't live in the us. we can't make them do anything. all this guy does is talk about epstein like it's a canadian policy lever. it's not. trump doesn't care what we put on the table. he's not negotiating with us over booze and epstein files.
can we focus on canada for five minutes? our problems? housing. healthcare. trade diversification. productivity. those are things we can actually do something about. not whatever fantasy leverage this guy thinks we have over a man who's been impeached twice and still doesn't answer to anyone.
epstein is a distraction. always has been. bring it up when it matters. but don't pretend it's a bargaining chip for canadian trade policy. that's just embarrassing.

@WallStreetApes We need to own our health data. Without it, they can't develop any products or services. If we owned it, we could at least give it to people we trusted would do the things we were interested in with it.

So many Americans are reporting experiencing like this at the doctors office
“I went to my doctor the other day and he sounded and looked so defeated”
She said she tried to explain to him what was going on with her health, and all the doctor did was unenthusiastically put her symptoms into their version of ChatGPT and recommend a prescription
She said she wanted to go to a more holistic route, and find out the root cause of what’s going on. Not just take a pill
His response was just the medication and any refills of her current medication
“Imagine going through your life, going through all of that schooling just to be a shill for big pharma. Wow.”
This is not uncommon. I’m seeing these interaction everywhere
Even doctors are making their own videos and saying how burnt out they are. They only have so many options because the insurance companies control everything now
We need healthcare reform
