[Ramaphosa does nothing] 5 March 2025: Kwazulu Natal Police Commissioner, General Mkhwanazi, informs Parliament about the unlawful decision to disband the PKTT and about links by the Police Minister to crooks. [Parliament does nothing] 6 June 2025: General Mkhwanazi hold a press briefing to inform the nation that the disbandment of the PKTT was intended to protect criminal syndicates from investigation and arrests. Further alleged that the Police Minister, Deputy National Police Commissioner, the Judiciary, Prosecutors and Journalists work with criminal syndicates. 26 June 2025: The NPA’s Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC), which was established to investigate State Capture allegations from the Zondo Commission, arrests National Head of Crime Intelligence and the PKTT Commander, General Khumalo, and Gauteng Head of Crime Intelligence, General Lekalaka. According to General Mkhwanazi, the arrests were carried out by rogue members of IDAC with the sole purpose of disrupting investigations into organised crime syndicates. 13 July 2025: Ramaphosa acts shocked at allegations by Mkhwanazi and announces a Commission of Inquiry to probe these allegations. 23 July 2025: Parliament also acts shocked and announces an Ad Hoc Committee to probe allegations by Mkhwanazi.
