@_davidlimbrick Unless they're going to slash it to $15 a packet of 25s, then it's pointless because the whole cigarette market in Australia is basically black market and if they do cut excise it still won't be enough to cripple the organised crime gangs.

@_rebase Working together has only landed politicians who have served in governments across Australia with very lucrative jobs in retirement. Also, you wouldn’t need to secure aluminium smelters’ jobs if we had cheap reliable energy.

@BlackHillCraig @_davidlimbrick You're correct, but the situation has changed. Supply issues mean big retail servos, who were willing to lose money to stay competitive, can now only afford to lose so much before it becomes a massive problem and that's where we are now.

Fuel markets aren't cost‑plus accounting based - they are competition based. Retailers and big oil companies don’t get to “need” a margin; they charge what customers will accept and what competitors force them to charge. If they price above the market, they lose volume. If they price above what people value, they lose customers. Global producers, refiners and servos are all disciplined by competition, not by whatever internal number they wish would cover their costs.

@JamesOdins49192 I have some understanding of how stressful this situation is for you, and I’m hoping you’ll pull through it better and stronger. If things get truly mentally tough, talk to your mates.

This is it. Had about 4 hrs sleep last night wondering how in the hell my wife and I small business will look in 6 months in rural Qld. All of this could have been prevented. But the Uni Party has screwed us all.
Scotty Chal@shallowchal

This’ll be the end of hundreds of SME’s over the next few months. Expect the big end of town to wobble as well. Building industry inflation was already around 8% + before the fuel crisis. What are you seeing on the ground? #AustraliaFirst 🇦🇺🫡

@_davidlimbrick Journalists used to ask who, what, when, and why. Now they treat mommy and daddy government as the source, beg it to tell them the story, print it, and only give minor pushback because access to government is more important than telling the actual truth.

We don’t have a fuel crisis; it’s just right-wing neo-Nazis marching down the street that’s our only problem. Now maybe you should work from home and use public transportation instead of the car, and road trips are boring for the kids, so how about you look into holidaying at home instead? There’s plenty of fuel, and those ships that were turned around were just excess fuel nothing to worry about. And it’s a right-wing conspiracy that I required additional security for my lovely gathering at Lakemba Mosque; they were there just for, umm, anyway those right wingers, hey yeah, they’re the problem, and diversity is our strength.

@_davidlimbrick Victoria is a state that has taken itself out of the gas exploration market. If they found massive gas reserves after the constitutional ban, they could be capitalizing on the current crisis. Now capping the price of fuel is another bad government strategy.

Prices are capped for 24 hours. Now imagine a wholesaler offering a delivery that is above the price cap, what does the retailer do when they can’t raise prices? They don’t take the order. Result - shortages. Entirely predictable.
Jacinta Allan@JacintaAllanMP

Our anti-fuel price gouging laws are in force - and it means families can save up to $333 every year. Servos that don't comply with capping and publishing prices on Servo Saver can face fines of more than $24,000 for every breach. Because the last thing families need is to be ripped off at the pump.

@HaveeSnowball Not only did they ban the exploration, but it is also a state constitutional ban. To overturn the constitutional amendment, it requires a minimum of 53 MPs and 24 MLCs. It was fully passed in the middle of COVID when Victoria had its ring of steel.

@Brettski_aus @Matt_Camenzuli Yes and no. The main issues with intentionally bricking devices or cars from publicly traded companies would cause massive damage and losses to their company values. The CCP subsidizes EV manufacturers, and every company has a CCP official on their board.

@kimber792 @Matt_Camenzuli Would be easier and more affective to brick what we are holding in our hands right now. Hasn’t happened though.

Chris Bowen is full of it. There are barely any EVs in Sydney's West. More, it is impossible for tradies and people that do heavy work to shift from diesel/petrol. Chris is a fool and a danger to Australia. He hurts Australia.

If they didn’t come in, no one would notice they’d walked off the job. Their radio stations are necessary for country audiences, but everything else is just useless. OMG PM, tell us the story about how you were raised by a single mum in a housing commission flat while far-right neo-Nazis made you too fearful to walk home at night.

@Brettski_aus @Matt_Camenzuli Yes, that’s the problem, especially with EVs. They can be bricked at any time. If China decides to take Taiwan, you could suddenly have hundreds of thousands of bricked vehicles. Other manufacturers could do the same, but I’d be really concerned about Chinese manufacturers.

@based_zoomah @shallowchal The war is happening now doesn’t matter if anyone in Australia supports it or not and hoping that they become a democratic country is something that we should all want now that everything has already kicked off.

Why Iran? What is so special about them that makes you feel this way?? What about Kenya? or The Congo? What about what's happening in Myanmar? North Korea? How about the poor people in Yemem... Oh but the poor people in Madacascar, can't forget them... IRAN needs democracy beacause YOU feel like they do? or perhaps becasue people planted these feelings and thoughts inside of your head with PROPOGANDA Honestly it amazes me how easily the masses get consumed and sucked in by propoganda Honestly there are so many countries and warlords/terror groups that are so much worse then iran and the humitarian crisis is extremely horrific compared to iran... The reason they dont attack your mind to fire up your empathy feelings and outrage is because those places do not threaten ISRAEL.. If they did, well... we know what happened to LIBYA.

What’s your price to stop supporting the war? Is it $4 diesel? $5 diesel? When groceries jump 30% or when your business margins disappear? Or is it later, when flights stop and shelves thin out, when your kids’ future gets traded for “stability”? No one withdraws support because of headlines. They withdraw when it hits home. So be honest. Is your line economic pain, or do you wait until it becomes personal? Leave it in the comments. #AustraliaFirst 🇦🇺🫡
