There are different ways of raising your voice. If you're using a commanding and stern tone to cut through a child's defiance, then it can be very effective. But a lot of parents yell because they're angry and frustrated, which rather than communicating strength to the child, conveys weakness and helplessness. Some parents think they're disciplinarians because they yell and punish all the time. But children with those kinds of parents often end up even more unruly and dysfunctional than children who do "gentle parenting" (which is also a terrible idea). The point is to be a commanding presence in your home, not a demanding presence. Leaders command attention and obedience. If you have to demand it, you're already losing.

I'm in an interracial marriage,I obviously know humans are the same species.The fact that dysfunction can occur when species cross breed does not negate the fact that it happens&obviously, I'm talking about animals

@kimmalissad @CEBOEHM222 @oelma__ Yes, except such cross-breeds tend to be infertile, or the male ligers - interestingly, not the female ones - do. (Just checked.) Whereas with humans we have no such problem...which rather proves my point, i.e. we are all one species!

I know Los Angeles is fucked. I’ve watched the city decay further every time I visit for two decades. And I will fully admit it is the fault of a self-interested democratic elite unwilling to address the city’s problems. But electing a morally degenerate reality tv star is not gonna fix your problems. He will turn it into a circus and rob you blind just like Trump did. Unfortunately, you have to do the long-term work of fixing the broken political process.

The public elimination of transsexuals in Britain goes beyond any valid public policy correction. It is quite literally a legal elimination of access to the public Commons mixed with a media hysterical to hunt down and dehumanize every single trans woman. And you can’t separate it from Britain’s dark history. There’s something inherently fascist in the British character. It’s why V for Vendetta felt so plausible set in the UK. I’m tired of seeing people that should know better play the victim when people stand against a hateful public policy project to eliminate a vulnerable minority. There are valid public policy discussions to be held about balancing transsexual civil rights with women’s civil rights. This discussion passed that threshold a long time ago and is now just simply a mob of online bigots supercharged by a broken culture.

@Milajoy I always hold the door for everyone, common courtesy. I've even have guys say "wow, thank you" others have said "no, after you, I insist" If they are uncomfortable i don't press it. Its not political to me, it's manners
