Christopher Nolan, responding in Time magazine this week to the avalanche of criticism over his Odyssey casting choices:
"Hopefully they'll enjoy the film, even if they don't agree with everything. We had a lot of scientists complain about Interstellar. But you just don't want people to think that you took it on frivolously."
He built a real seaworthy ship, shot entirely on 70mm IMAX, and spent $250 million. Is Nolan being dismissed too quickly, or did his casting choices earn the backlash?
I mean all bullshit aside it’s fairly obvious now that 90% or more of the entire fanbase firmly wants Slot removed and putting this season mostly on his doorstep.
I don’t care what anyone says I feel for him and the way he’s been treated this season has been appalling.
@blackopite@scouserunlfc@michaelevansuk It was too much change at once and everything that could have gone wrong has. Slot gets no credit for 20 but all the blame for this season when he's been handicapped from the start.
@kitchenclave@scouserunlfc@michaelevansuk Diaz was good last season but he was playing oop at st due to his work rate. Trent narrative was we replaced his creativity with the best u23 cam. These guys were upgrades brought to compete. Calling it a transition when everyone is young in their prime off a prem title is a joke
I can’t wait for Salah FC fans to do one when he goes. The biggest reason being that they have absolutely no concept of the dilemmas faced by those of us who have supported and attended this club for decades, when one of our greatest players goes up against the badge. Plazzy fans
@blackopite@scouserunlfc@michaelevansuk Diaz was massively influential last season and are you calling Trent fodder? Is Frimpong an upgrade? You're having a fucking laugh pal.
@kitchenclave@scouserunlfc@michaelevansuk Nunez was a 2/3rd choice striker for us last season, and Diaz wasn’t good enough to start week in and out at lw aswell. Rest were fodder or got replaced by even better players. The narrative going into this year was to dominate not transition from a title. Let’s not do revionism
@scouserunlfc@michaelevansuk Anyone with half a brain could see things weren't right from March. We won those early games on fumes and luck. Grief effects people in strange, inconvenient ways.
@kitchenclave@michaelevansuk No one called this a transition season after the summer window and winning 5 from 5. No one. We were touted as favourites for the title and CL. So let’s stop with the reframing now it’s all gone to shit.
@kitchenclave@scouserunlfc@michaelevansuk Winning a prem in dominating fashion a month earlier then adding one of the best cam and strikers in the world aswell is not transitioning
We live in an age when Chelsea and Spurs can go through three managers in a season and everyone's on board with them doing so, but if Liverpool fans and players aren't happy with losing 20 games in a season, scrapping for 5th place, and bagging no silverware, WE'RE in the wrong.
Arne Slot publicly had a dig at Salah with the gym and standards comments and it got crickets from the media.
When Salah hit back at Slot’s style, the same pundits and press erupted in outrage, queuing up to slam him for “disrespect.”
The anti-Salah agenda is glaring.
Liverpool fans are firmly Team Salah, while the media and pundits are Team Slot.
Fans always win in the end 👍
@kitchenclave@ROrovwoni22535@michaelevansuk And yet he’s still got more G/A for the club than anyone else since then. So what does that tell you a) about the setup and b) everyone else?
@ROrovwoni22535@michaelevansuk How “horrible he’s been”? Dear god - after 8 years of world class performances, breaking record after record, his standards drop for one year, and it’s defined as horrible. Unlike Slot with his great 9mths, Salah has earned grace from fans.
@michaelevansuk No. Losing 20 games, conceding more league goals since WW2, and making statements like scoring 2 at Villa Park is good when we lose 4-2 is making the club a laughing stock.
Calling the standards dropping out that cause these is not.
