getting to a point now where it is SPICY difficult to remove games from the collection to make room for new ones. small games it's not so tough, but big boxes? help.

I’ve been frozen out of my @monzo account for 30 hours now. My first issue with Monzo but it’s a doozy. Our joint acct and both our personal accts are frozen. Scheduled payments being declined. Amazing how much you rely on your bank working. Going on holiday tomorrow. Stressful!

These “why” comments are less likely to rot, but it still happens. In codebases with solely “why” comments, anecdotally, I find I can trust the comments more

Code comments rot because programmers change the code that matters and often forget to update the comment. Over time nobody trusts the comments. In any case, the best comments describe “why”. E.g. # we use a loop because we get stack overflow exception when using recursion

plus they all have names like "shuddering bliss", calm down, you're a biscuit

"these chocolate and biscuit swirls have a special secret - they're free from euclidean geometry"

Not sure what all go exponential and kill us first - AI or these ever-increasingly-over-the-top luxury biscuit brands

@oliverburkeman I think it's difficult to make a strong case in such a short time - I've found this post over at lesswrong (lesswrong.com/posts/LTtNXM9s…) to be a better resource for the "why". I note it doesn't make me as confident as Yudkowsky about timelines or % doom chance.

You pick up a pebble on the beach and look at it: beautiful! Don’t try and get a sermon out of it. Sermons in stones and God in everything be damned. Just enjoy it.
