“Mr. Sharpton said he was struck by how taken the audience was with Gov. Andy Beshear of Kentucky.” “‘If there was one that was an eyebrow raiser, it was Beshear.” Mr. Sharpton said.” 👀 nytimes.com/2026/04/12/us/…

A debate worth having: to what extent is this Hard Right surge the result of a flawed taxonomy? If your “hard right” European political party has accepted EU membership, the Euro, LGBTQI+ rights and renounced racialism and antisemitism — how is it not simply a conservative party by 1990s standards?

My only comments on the Swalwell stuff before bed: A) the allegation(s) seems credible. and if it's credible it's bad enough that he should drop out. I guess he does deserve to give his side but it seems like he's done B) the conduct of certain influencers/operatives on here the past several days has been really disgusting and unbecoming of how anyone decent would handle accusations of something as serious as sexual assault. People were treating it like it was some sneaker drop or something, gleefully hyping it up. They could've easily waited the few days until the actual story was released. But they wanted the clout and to feel important. It really was gross. It gave me Tara Reade vibes, again. And made me feel less likely to believe the accusations when they were finally reported (responsibly) and seemed that it was coming from a place that was primarily concerned with getting at a political rival.

Who would've though this guy would be the front runner to be the governor of California

A woman who worked for nearly two years for Rep. Eric Swalwell told the Chronicle she had sexual encounters with him while he was her boss and alleged he twice sexually assaulted her when she was too intoxicated to consent. sfchronicle.com/politics/artic…

The final trailer for the Michael Jackson biopic has been released. In theaters on April 24.

As President Donald Trump’s unauthorized war on Iran with Israel entered into its second month, some Democratic officials were looking around and wondering: Where are the anti-war protests this time around? And why are college campuses so quiet? @Lauren_V_Egan takes a look.
