U.S. Air Force Major Alex Klinner arrived at Dover, Delaware Air Force Base in a dignified transfer home. It was days ago when Major Klinner and 5 of his crew members died as their refueling plane crashed in Iraq. 33-year-old Klinner (pictured with wife Libby months ago) was a 2011 graduate of Auburn (AL) High School and a 2016 graduate of Auburn University. He was the Chief of Squadron Standardizations and Evaluations at the 99th Air Refueling Squadron in Birmingham. Major Klinner’s wife Libby is a University of Alabama graduate. Two years ago, Alex and Libby welcomed a baby boy and 7 months ago they welcomed twins, a boy and a girl. The family was just settling into their home in Trussville, AL. Attending the arrival along with Libby Klinner was President Trump, Senators Katie Britt and Tommy Tuberville and other White House officials. Sarah Harrill is Libby Klinner’s sister. She said of Alex and Libby: “They had an incredible God-centered marriage. They really were true partners and worked together and made decisions together. They looked for opportunities to serve each other and that was reflected in their daily lives.” While the Klinner family mourns, we mourn with them. #USAF #Military #RIP

Yesterday we had a lab meeting with puzzling results and then I came home and saw a double helix in the sky!! Maybe a sign to look more closely at the DNA?

Nope, not ornaments. My friend is going through the house where her grandma and aunt lived their whole lives and finding weird stuff. Apparently these are solid and very heavy; too heavy to hang on a tree. What are they

Tenured! Yay! 🎉 Celebrated this milestone with my incredible lab family. I’m deeply grateful to all past and current members, together we built our cryo-ET program at Penn from the ground up and had a blast making exciting discoveries. And there is still so much more fun ahead!

The very reason that you have the right to protest is because this great man stood up against tyranny and Nazism. His leadership provided you the freedom and the security to object and to stand up for what you believe in. To disgrace his legacy is a prime example of utter stupidity and a lack of understanding as to what this great nation is all about.

Last night during the State of the Union, retired U.S. Navy Captain Royce Williams was awarded the Medal of Honor for his extraordinary heroism during the Korean War. On November 18, 1952, flying an F9F Panther from USS Oriskany, Williams engaged and fought off multiple Soviet MiG-15s in a harrowing dogfight over the Sea of Japan—bringing his damaged aircraft home against overwhelming odds. His actions were classified for decades. More than 70 years later, the nation formally recognized his courage and devotion to duty. A long-overdue honor for a naval aviator whose bravery stood the test of time. 🇺🇸✈️

Finally graduated with my PhD @durham_uni at the tender age of 64, twenty years after I first started. Delighted to be joined by 'proud dad' aged 90. Huge thanks to supervisors and all at @Durham_SGIA for a second chance in education. It's never too late....... #LifelongLearning

Tonight, Britain holds its breath for a woman who has given it so much. At 91, Judi Dench is resting quietly at home, surrounded not by spotlights or applause, but by the soft presence of family during what loved ones describe as a “fragile time.” There are no dramatic scenes — just tenderness, privacy, and a nation murmuring its gratitude into the silence. For decades, she has been the beating heart of British theatre and film — breathing life into the words of William Shakespeare, commanding stages with quiet majesty, and moving audiences to tears in films like Belfast. Her voice has carried our stories. Her presence has defined generations. Now, as she gently withdraws from the glare of the spotlight, the country sends its love back to her — wrapped in thanks, admiration, and the countless memories she gifted us. A national treasure, forever etched into Britain’s soul.

I just submitted by first R01 (at age 46). Though I know my chances are slim, I can't help but feel extremely proud of all the hard work that was put into this. I also realized how much I love this job and science!! Thank you to my amazing students and lab members🤩🔬🧫
