Here at [famous scientist’s name].ai, we’re developing tools to accelerate science. Unlike academia, which has stifled the production of high quality scientific work by demanding it be correct, here at [fsn].ai, we know that you can just do (wrong) things.

@littmath At the same time, we are close to using models embedded in verifiable domains. Reducing oversee to the translation from natural to formal language. I expect the same will happen in software, very soon.

I find it so disorienting chatting with frontier LLMs about fancy math stuff. The deduction in the last sentence below is nonsense; I suspect there is not a single living human who knows what "Green-Lazarsfeld generic vanishing theory" is and who would make the same error.

@Yampeleg You are heating water significantly, implying a major consumption of power in order to convert to heat.

AI datacenters use NO water. NONE. ZERO. - They pull water in. - Cool the computers. - Then immediately pump it out back to the same source. NO loss. NO “consumption”. NO impact. “AI draining water” is pure fiction.
Andy Masley@AndyMasley

This is the single most massive factual error in a major book I've ever personally noticed on my own, and I think I'm the first person to notice it? Empire of AI asserts that a data center is using 1000x as much water as a city. In reality, it's 22% of the city's water.

In a stunning experiment, mice with a fatal childhood brain disease (Leigh Syndrome) lived 4x longer just by breathing less oxygen. Instead of dying at 2.5 months, they lived nearly a year - and brain scans showed damage actually reversing.
