After almost 4 years in the Polkadot ecosystem, it's time for me to hang up my hat -- today is my last day. Over that period of time, I've been so impressed by the vision, drive, creativity, and brilliance of people in this space (not to mention the pure adrenaline!).

This is a real first for us since I’ve been here at least— a program with real support for launching successful businesses from the commercial side which breaks us out of what can be a Web3 echo chamber. Really hoping for a successful pilot so we can replicate this kind of thing!

I’m so happy to see this initiative come to life. Polkadot takes such pride in its tech (as we should!), but we SO need additional support on the GTM side — and I’m happy to report that ERA represents a team of experts in that arena, specifically as it applies to the US.

This is not to say that there aren’t great Web3 events happening, and leaders across projects still came — I went to a great event at CV labs this evening as one example — but the headline projects and big ads about the Web3 future from years past are gone. Everyone’s quieter.

Asking around about this yielded a few different answers - one person said that Web3 had given up on the Davos crowd, another said that Davos as in the town had made it harder for Web3 companies to rent space, but for whatever reason the absence is conspicuous.

Day 1 at Davos: unlike previous years, Web3 presence is practically nonexistent. In its place, AI is plastered absolutely everywhere. A few projects have space on the promenade, among them Project Liberty, Circle, CV labs,and Coinbase, but I didn’t see one protocol represented.

So much of the web3 conversation has become about the market movements since the election — and while I understand why, we need to remember the long term, ambitious vision of web3, which is far nobler than simply chasing upside. I wrote about that here: cointelegraph.com/news/crypto-pr…

I dislike how right my teachers were in that writing something down helps you learn it. When I have to learn a new thing at work I've begun forcing myself to write an essay about it, and it's incredibly effective.
